I'll Be Honest

Another garment of the old man we need to put off is rotten, corrupt language. Our tongue can do tremendous good or unspeakable evil. We also need to remember that our tongue isn't neutral; it's either doing good or it's corrupting.

We typically think of anger as a work of the flesh that we need to put to death and flee from. And in most cases it certainly is, but there actually is a time and place to be angry. What are some of the things that are right to be angry about?

Christianity is not just all about head knowledge and getting the facts right. We need the experiential reality of that knowledge to be vibrant in our own souls. We need the power and reality of the Holy Spirit pouring the love of God in our hearts continually. This is every believer's right and privilege. Don't try to live as a Christian without this.

The truth is never arrogant but the truth is a matter of fact. Now in the delivery of the truth, the messenger can be proud, unloving and arrogant. It is true that our actions will either substantiate the message or undermine it. To proclaim an exclusive Gospel is not the proclamation of a proud man, but the proclamation of a man whom God has humbled and rescued by Jesus Christ.

Why are so many millennials leaving the church? It seems fewer people are attending a church in this generation than in previous generations.

Does God only decree only what He desires? Does God decree things He doesn't desire? Does God desire things He doesn't decree? How does all this fit within the sovereignty of God?

God makes amazing and incredible promises to us in His Word. But do the promises of God towards His people resemble our present condition? And if they don't, does that cause us to give God no rest until He causes our circumstances to match what He has promised to us?

Are we willing to eliminate things in our lives that are displeasing to God? Are we willing to be rid of idols in our lives that are not only displeasing to God but are also greatly hurtful to us because they hinder the sweet communion that we would have with God?

Jesus Christ is the Christian’s foundation for having bold access to God. It is not our performance that allows us to come boldly before God, but the merits of Christ. Christians do not need to be full of fear and anxiety to come to God. Because of Christ, God welcomes them to come, even on their worst day.

Christian, sin didn't kill Jesus Christ for you. God (your Father) killed Jesus Christ for you.

An often overlooked ministry in the church is the ministry of encouragement. We need to be encouraged by other Christians, and other Christians also need to be encouraged by us. Our attempts of encouragement may not seem that influential, but we would be surprised at how greatly God can use them to help our fellow believers.

Our life is like an hourglass and the sand is sinking. Each grain is like a mercy and what are we doing with those mercies? If we don't run to Christ, those grains of mercy will turn into grains of wrath.

It's no mystery; one of the most heated controversies in our day is social justice. How should we as Christians view the world's concept of social justice?

The Christian is not someone who is trying to better themselves; the Christian is someone who has been recreated and made new. The new man is who the Christian is on the inside, and we need to clothe ourselves with him on the outside.

Sadly, we can love the idea of Jesus more than Jesus Himself. It's so easy to take our eyes off of Christ and put them on something else. But we must always remember that Christ must be first in every area of our lives.

There are two very important questions we all should be asking: 1. Why are things the way they are in this world? 2. How do we fix it? The world is wearing themselves out trying to figure out the second question, but they don't care too much to ask themselves the first question. But we'll never know the answer to the second question until we can find the answer to the first question.

Every person needs a covering for their sin. The only covering available for sinners is the obedience of Jesus Christ. And once God has put away our sins, He won't bring them back to haunt or torment us. Glorious reality and freedom.

Most of us will be not be remembered after we die. We'll be forgotten by the world and only a fading memory to those who knew us. But we can't let this cause us to think that we're not needed in Christ's Church. Almost all of the advancement of His kingdom has been done by little, unknown Christians.

So much of the Christian life consists of the mind being renewed and working properly. We must not settle for mere outward imitation and external conformity; we must be renewed in the spirit of our minds.

A major theme in the Bible is the battle between Christ and the Devil. We see this promised from the very beginning in Genesis 3. Because of the Fall, everyone is born as a child of the devil with his seed in them. And our only hope is the seed of the woman (Christ) bruising his head and setting us free.

It may be easy to not allow our body to go to sinful places. But what are we to do when we find our mind being bombarded by wicked things? The mental battles are often far more difficult than the physical ones. What should we do when we're in a mental war and our mind is being attacked?
