I'll Be Honest

Why don’t we see the dead raised today as we read about in Jesus’ day? In fact, why did Jesus Himself raise the dead at all when He walked this earth?

God is a King and He has transformed us to be His ambassadors. We are representatives of God with an authoritative message to proclaim to this world.

We are called to put on the new man, and another essential quality that characterizes the new man is to be a giver and not a taker. We need to put off stealing; but it is not enough to stop stealing, we need to also start giving.

We are saved by faith and much is said by Christians about faith. But the true, infallible test of the reality of faith is how it responds when it is tested. Anyone can say they have faith, but the testings and trials will show if that faith is real or not.

What should we do about idols that creep into our lives and hinder our walk? We live in a generation where distractions from technology are at an all-time high, and God forbid we allow ourselves to get swept into it.

Being a Christian isn't just learning how to say the right things. It is very easy to join a biblical church and try to externally mimic the behavior and speech of everyone there. But God doesn't just want us to copy what other people without actually knowing why we are doing it. Does your behavior flow from a renewed mind, or just external conformity to fit into a certain church's mold?

Are theme churches Biblical? Is it right to have our point of fellowship be based upon us all being cowboys or bikers?

We should live our lives in such a way that we’ll be missed when we’re gone. The people who will be missed when they’re gone are the people who gave and served the most.

The Bible encourages us to pray, and even when our prayers are ineffectual we shouldn't be discouraged because God uses them. But even though God uses our ineffectual prayers, we still need to grow and learn how to better pray effectual prayers.

God is absolutely sovereign over every single event that takes place in the world, and more personally, in our lives. How do you respond to God's providences in your life that are painful and trying?

Married men: don't pretend to have a glowing testimony in the church when you have wicked outbursts of anger against your wife. Don't try to hide it or justify it. Confess it and put it to death.

God made us new from the inside, but we need to actively put on the new man. One of the practical ways we can put on the new man is to do everything we can to strengthen him.

Many people pray, but how many people ask themselves why God should actually answer their prayers? How many Christians know how to argue with God in prayer?

Who is responsible for the death of Jesus Christ? Was it the responsibility of the Jews, the Romans, us (our sins), or God the Father?

If there's one Person in the Godhead who has been depersonalized by many, it's the Holy Spirit. But Christian, don't forget that you have the third Person of the Godhead dwelling inside of you. More specifically, don't forget that you're capable of grieving Him.

We should desire to win souls for Christ, and their souls can only be won by receiving the offensive message of the Gospel. With that being said, we need to make sure our attitude and conduct don't add a needless offense to the message.

One of the most fearful things a Christian can do is grieve the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit’s influences decline in our lives, the consequences can be terrifying and they can last far longer than we ever thought they would. Christian, don’t count it a light thing when you are commanded to not grieve the Holy Spirit.

Bitterness and unforgiveness can have such a strong grip on the heart. The only thing that can melt it is looking at Christ on the cross dying for our sins. If the cross of Christ doesn't melt your heart and allow you to truly forgive others who have wronged you, there's only one explanation: you don't truly believe what happened on the cross.

As Christians, we have the high calling of imitating God and loving others as Christ loved us. But we must never forget that our obedience must come from the reality that we're now God's beloved children. We're not slaves or criminals; we're adopted children loved by God.

One of the effects of believing that the creation account in the Bible took a long time is that it makes God look like a God who acts slowly. But every Christian knows that we don't need a God who acts slow; we need a mighty God who can act immediately on our behalf.

A prominent sin in the day we live in is sexual immorality, and this sin is also given fierce warnings in the Bible. We need to remember that warnings of sexual immorality aren't just for the pagan world; they're for many people who go to church and call themselves Christians.

As we seek to be diligent to grow in the Lord, one means it can be through is attending conferences. This will be the 11th year of Fellowship Conference, in which we come together for fellowship, preaching, and singing that center on the glory of God.

Covetousness is a heinous, horrible, damnable sin that will lead to everlasting punishment and unspeakable torment for those who practice it. And isn't it fearful how few people seem to even realize how wicked this sin is? May God help and keep us from being deceived by covetousness.

Do you believe the lie that your life consists in the abundance of possessions? Have you been deluded into chasing after something in this world thinking it's going to fill the void in your life? Wake up from that delusion and seek Jesus Christ as your all in all.
