I Finally Watched...

The Rundown (2003) is the type of movie why we started I Finally Watched... A childhood film that only one of us had seen, that might or might not have stood up to the test of time. Well this film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Seann William Scott, Rosario Dawson, and Christopher Walken sure does, kinda, in a way!

This ain't your mother's Steel Magnolias, but this is Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia (1999) Starring a rock hard Tom Cruise, a sympathetic Philip Seymour Hoffman, a frightened William H. Macy and many many more! For a 3 hour film it goes by pretty fast! 

The Darjeeling Limited (2007) A year after their father's funeral, three brothers travel across India by train in an attempt to bond with each other. With a star studded cast (Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, and Adrien Brody, and Bill Murray who is possibly the father??) How did this become Wes Anderson's least successful film?! We loved it! This is a weird one and by Paul Thomas Anderson standards, that's saying something! You really like Adam Sandler in this and everyone in the cast does an amazing job. This is one to watch for sure (It'll make you feel uncomfortable) Starring; Adam Sandler, Emily Watson, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Kicking off our Anderson run with Wes Anderson's Rushmore (1998) A very dense film for an hour and a half long film. You get the quirkiness of Wes Anderson but not at his highest level... Oh and this was also written by Owen Wilson... oh wow!

Episode 100!!! We have a perfect way to celebrate! We Finally Watched... The Shawshank Redemption (1994) David's favorite movie of all time and soon to be one of Alain's favorites too! This Stephen King adaptation is action-packed, heartfelt, and might make you cry. Starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman! Thank you for supporting us through episode 100, we are not planning on stopping any time so...

Our 99th episode consists of us going back and forth arguing about the logical or illogical way how someone would handle a psychopath dressing up as his deceased mom and murder you... how would you handle it? Psycho (1960) is an oldie but a goodie! We love Alfred Hitchcock! Starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh!

Just about a year ago, I Finally Watched... watched and reviewed the original 1978 Halloween, featuring the notorious Michael Myers. Now we are back to talk about Halloween II (1981) Taking off right where the first movie left off, we follow Michael Myers as he tries to hunt down Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in a hospital... and we spend a lot of time in that hospital! 

Ari Aster has a very unusual way of creating a horror story... that being said, Hereditary (2018) freaked us both out in ways we'd rather not discuss... but we do and you can listen now! Starring Toni Collette, Milly Shapiro, and Alex Wolff.

John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) is about as classic horror movie you can get and what really makes this film stand out is that it's so incredibly hard to follow (purposely so) Such a cool concept for a movie and we had a blast analyzing the hell out of it! Continuing our spooky reviews, we hit up a classic within the horror genre with, A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) Directed and written by THE Wes Craven! We follow a group of kids through dream land as they get massacred and turned into human smoothies by the child serial/slasher killer Fred Krueger!

Does anyone remember the 2007 horror vampire movie, 30 Days of Night?? We do and we loved all the gore that comes along with it! Sure this movie has its flaws, but for a slasher vamp film, this is above par! Starring Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Danny Huston, and Ben Foster

Starting off our horror/Halloween movie watching and review early with The Exorcist (1973), a classic film that has escaped David's and Alain's eyes till now! Not so much a scary movie as it is disturbing and definitely more than either were expecting.

It's sad how The Losers never got a sequel. This high action, comic book adaptation film has an all star cast; including, Idris Elba, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Evans. However, since this film was made in 2010, it's before any of them really reached super stardom. While this movie flopped at the box office, we really did enjoy The Losers!

We did The Godfather not too long ago and we wanted our 90th episode to be somewhat monumentous, so we present to you our review and discussion on The Godfather: Part II (1974) Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Al Pacino, reprising his role as Michael and Robert De Niro as a young Vito Corleone. This both sequel and prequel to The Godfather is a masterpiece demanding to be seen! Enjoy!

David and Alain are joined again by Gharrett for another Denis Villenueve film, Sicario! In this over two hour special, the team goes into depth about the movie and direct ever detail of it. They even talk about the sequel and the possibility of a third film to wrap the franchise together!

Starring Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody, The Brothers Bloom is a very stylized Crime Romance Mystery film, by none other than Rian Johnson! We pretty much fell in love with this movie right away, it is an I Finally Watched... favorite!

Originally created by Roald Dahl, Fantastic Mr. Fox is a movie by Wes Anderson and stars George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Jason Schwartzman... it was also partly written by an I Finally Watched... favorite director, Noah Baumbach. We had fun reviewing this short "kids" film.

Have you heard of a small time director, J.J. Abrams?? Of course you have! This film is a perfect blend of nostalgia and sci-fi and it'll have you on the edge of your seat... when its not talking about socio-political views of the 80's. Starring Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, and Joel Courtney

At first Dead Man Down didn't have much hope for being a good flick on the surface, especially once you learn it was produced by WWE Studios (yes, wrestling) however, it need up being a good action flick with a decent story! Starring Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, and Terrence Howard

IFW's second review of an animated movie, an anime if you will. We talk about Spirited Away and what a complicated plot it has and it's beautiful, creative, and imaginative characters.

Calvary is a 2014 Irish drama film written and directed by John Michael McDonagh. It stars Brendan Gleeson, Chris O'Dowd, and Kelly Reilly. By one of David's favorite director's brother, we review a dark comedy about priesthood! A very good film, but you definitely have to be in the right mind frame for this one!
