I Finally Watched...

We are so sad to hear Bruce Willis retiring from acting, he has had such a great career and now we feel a little bad about making fun of some of his role choices over the past few years, HOWEVER in honor of him we are looking back at one of the best of his career and M. Night Shyamalan's, Unbreakable (2000). We appreciate a good hero origin story and Shyamalan created such an original concept with...

Al Pacino's film Dog Day Afternoon (1975) is such a strange film mad stranger on the fact it is based on a true story! And while Pacino brings charisma to the role, the real life dude is not so charming! Directed by Sidney Lumet, same director as 12 Angrey Men and Serpico

Extract (2009) is one of those smaller films, that might not get many accolades, however it is underrated and deserves a little more attention than it gets. The owner of a factory that produces flavor extracts, Joel Reynold (Jason Bateman) seems to have it all, but really doesn't. What's missing is sexual attention from his wife, Suzie (Kristen Wiig). Joel hatches a convoluted plan to get Suzie to...

Will Ferrell coaches his son's soccer team... and this is NOT the movie we watched and reviewed! APRIL FOOLS! We, in fact, reviewed the 1995 Noah Baumbach film, Kicking & Screaming starring Josh Hamilton and we hope you enjoy a little pretense in your movie critics! Thank you!

Our final film for kingdom month, Kingdom of Heaven (2005) might be Ridley Scott's best movie to date, however many people might never know that since that statement is only true for The Director's Cut and its so hard to find! Orlando Bloom stars as a blacksmith rescuing a woman above his status once again in Pirates of- I mean, Kingdom of Heaven.

Another kingdom film incoming with, Moonrise Kingdom (2012), our third Wes Anderson for the podcast and most definitely not our last! We found this movie absolutely charming and surprising. An interestingly paced movie that was a good break between our more violent films we reviewed this month. Starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand

Continuing our kingdom craze, we watched Animal Kingdom (2010) a Neo-noir Australian crime drama that is about a family as brutal as a pride of lions. Starring Ben Mendelsohn, Jacki Weaver, Guy Pearce, Joel Edgerton, and James Frecheville

It's March and we decided, for no particular reason at all, to review four films all with the word KINGDOM in the title! And what better way of starting off is with The Kingdom (2007) starring Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman and Ashraf Barhom. Directed by Peter Berg!

Football Football Football! Watching the entire television showing and this movie, I can safely say the show is better, however Friday Night Lights (2004) does have it's merits and like the show, it has clear eyes, full hearts and it can not lose! Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Connie Britton, Lucas Black, Derek Luke, and Tim McGraw. Directed by Peter Berg

Alain did not enjoy this movie when he first saw it along time ago, however that is because he was too young to appreciate the intricacy of Philip Seymour Hoffman's comedic acting. Along Came Polly (2004) stars Ben Stiller, Jennifer Aniston, and Alec Baldwin. Definitely on the lower end of all these actor's careers

Disclaimer: This episode of IFW contains discussions of sexual assault and socio-racial politics*   Right or wrong? Justice or vengeance? Thematically A Time To Kill (1996) is a great movie that gives you a lot to think about, but let's get real... those dudes deserved what they got. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Samuel L. Jackson, Sandra Bullock, Oliver Platt. Directed by Joel Schumacher

Back when Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio, Emilio Estevez and Rob Lowe were a bunch of nobodies, they all starred in the film, The Outsiders (1983) Patrick Swayze, Diane Lane, and Matt Dillon was there too! The Outsiders is basically what you get when you take the story of Grease and mix it with the tine of Stand By Me. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola because a bunch of grade schooler...

When you think of Owen Wilson, you might not immediately think "action hero" but he plays the hell out of one in Behind Enemy Lines (2001) A man with the odds stacked against him is helped by Gene Hackman! Great war film and overall intense movie!

In my case The Bodyguard (1992) is one of those films you sit down and watch with your mom and know very little as to what is going on, and the older I got the more I could appreciate this Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner classic! AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE this movie!

We don't cover many super hero movies here at I Finally Watched... However, we feel like Blade (1998) is an exception. A revolutionary film for its time, fans of the hero will be glad to know we gave it a good rating with minor issues in plot, CGI effects, and villain, but other than those things it was a butt-load of fun! Starring Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Donal Logue, and the lead singe...

Moonstruck (1987) stars Cher and Nicolas Cage and for the most part it's a normal rom com, except Nic Cage is doing a little something different than everyone else... and its wonderful and weird! HE HAS HIS HAND! HE HAS HIS BRIDE!         podcast, indie, pod nation, review, movie, film, review, New York, Italian, Florida, Olympia Dukakis, cinema, Spotify, GoodPods, Apple, iTunes, Podbean, Google

The Rundown (2003) is the type of movie why we started I Finally Watched... A childhood film that only one of us had seen, that might or might not have stood up to the test of time. Well this film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Seann William Scott, Rosario Dawson, and Christopher Walken sure does, kinda, in a way!

We always do a holiday movie around this time of year and what better holiday movie than Lethal Weapon (1987) Directed by Richard Donner and written by Shane Black, who has a knack for writing action packed films around the holiday season. Lethal Weapon is as Christmas as Christmas movies come and we love it! Starring Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, and Gary Busey! Don't be too old for this shit and lis...

This ain't your mother's Steel Magnolias, but this is Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia (1999) Starring a rock hard Tom Cruise, a sympathetic Philip Seymour Hoffman, a frightened William H. Macy and many many more! For a 3 hour film it goes by pretty fast!

The Darjeeling Limited (2007) A year after their father's funeral, three brothers travel across India by train in an attempt to bond with each other. With a star studded cast (Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, and Adrien Brody, and Bill Murray who is possibly the father??) How did this become Wes Anderson's least successful film?! We loved it! Will you?? This is also our first sponsored episode, THA...

This is a weird one and by Paul Thomas Anderson standards, that's saying something! You really like Adam Sandler in this and everyone in the cast does an amazing job. This is one to watch for sure (It'll make you feel uncomfortable) Starring; Adam Sandler, Emily Watson, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Kicking off our Anderson run with Wes Anderson's Rushmore (1998) A very dense film for an hour and a half long film. You get the quirkiness of Wes Anderson but not at his highest level... Oh and this was also written by Owen Wilson... oh wow!

Episode 100!!! We have a perfect way to celebrate! We Finally Watched... The Shawshank Redemption (1994) David's favorite movie of all time and soon to be one of Alain's favorites too! This Stephen King adaptation is action-packed, heartfelt, and might make you cry. Starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman! Thank you for supporting us through episode 100, we are not planning on stopping any time so...

Our 99th episode consists of us going back and forth arguing about the logical or illogical way how someone would handle a psychopath dressing up as his deceased mom and murder you... how would you handle it? Psycho (1960) is an oldie but a goodie! We love Alfred Hitchcock! Starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh!

Just about a year ago, I Finally Watched... watched and reviewed the original 1978 Halloween, featuring the notorious Michael Myers. Now we are back to talk about Halloween II (1981) Taking off right where the first movie left off, we follow Michael Myers as he tries to hunt down Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in a hospital... and we spend a lot of time in that hospital!
