As we enter this new year, let's take on the same mind that Paul had, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.

In the final week of Let There Be Light, we see God's design was to live in perfect relationship with His creation. But when our sin entered the world, He was unfolding a plan to bring redemption. This is the story.

As we wrap up our journey through scripture, we're taking a few weeks to look back on the Let There Be Light story. Approaching the Christmas season, Pastor Kenny Hall teaches on why Jesus came by using the story of his first miracle in John 2, turning water into wine at the wedding celebration.

The whole story of Scripture ends in the light of victory through Jesus, and the promise of a perfect, personal relationship with God forever in Heaven. While eternity can be a tricky thing to think about, meditating on the promise of forever can bring hope and healing to our lives here on earth.

The Let There Be Light story comes to a close through promise of restoration, written by John, the disciple whom Jesus loved in exile on Patmos. The book opens with a letter to the 7 churches, and Pastor Jeremy Peeler teaches through Jesus' words to the church in Ephesus and how they have lost their first love.

The message of the New Testament writing to the Hebrews can be best summarized in three words: "Jesus is better." Living in the light of what Jesus has done for us, Pastor Kenny Hall teaches on how we can draw near to God confidently, consistently, and together.

In the second week of our miniseries on the book of 1st Peter, Pastor Skip Allen teaches through the call to humility, to serve as Christ served.

As the church grows, so does the opposition against this new movement in Jesus' name. In Acts 7, Stephen, an ordinary man, lays down everything in his life for the sake of the gospel, becoming the first martyr. But God uses his sacrifice to spark a movement that will change the world.

God grows His church through addition, multiplication, and even subtraction, but He never uses division. Pastor Kenny Hall teaches from Acts 6 about the three priorities of the Church, and how we are called to live out our role as we help people far from God find hope in God.

A new excitement is rising as rumors are starting to spread. A church service is happening. As the crowd gathers, they see Him. So many of them had been touched by his ministry, but some had seen him die the week before. As the scene unfolds on the mountainside, the risen Jesus lays out his new plan of attack: go and make disciples.

"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." As Jesus goes to the cross, He is executed alongside two criminals. Over and over again, He prays for forgiveness through his suffering. As one of these criminals sees this love, he realizes that the things he's heard about Jesus all along are true, and confesses his need for a Savior.

The night that Jesus was to be betrayed, the night He was to go to the cross, He fought the greatest battle anyone has ever fought. Knowing what was to happen to Him, He bowed before His Father in prayer, ultimately being strengthened to give His life for his betrayers. In His faithfulness, we see our template for victory over temptation.

"Jesus, the one you love is sick." This humble prayer in John 11 from the messenger on behalf of Mary and Martha gives us insight into the power of intercessory prayer. Pastor Jeremy Peeler teaches on our role in going to Jesus in prayer for those around us.

The story of Lazarus teaches us that love is the foundation of the Gospel, God is motivated by His love, and that His love is personal for each one of us. Pastor Kenny Hall teaches through the story found in John 11.

Often times our lives look like trying our best to keep the plates spinning. In John 15, Jesus calls us to a better way of life rooted in abiding in Him, as the true vine.

We overvalue stuff. We undervalue ourselves. We overestimate worry. We undermine God. Fear and anxiety have been a part of the human heart since Jesus' ministry. In the famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches His followers that freedom from worry comes from a trust that our Father will always be faithful to provide.

Pastor Jeremy Peeler delivers a narrative sermon out of John 4, the story of a politician and his dying son. In it, we see a man who sees his greatest need is not what Jesus can do for Him, but simply Jesus himself.

The Lord's Prayer teaches us the importance of coming before God and praising His greatness, and confessing our weakness. So, how important is prayer in your life?

Early in Jesus ministry, we read that he "had" to pass through Samaria, a place men like Him were supposed to avoid. When He encounters a woman at the well at noon, He uses her to bring about the greatest Samaritan revival in history.

The Wise Men at Jesus' Birth are one of the most well known parts of the Christmas story, but what are there actual significance? Who are they? What about their gifts? Most importantly, what does their presence say about God's story? Pastor Kenny Hall answers those questions as we wrap up our Chapter on Christmas in July.
