Homily Rewind from St. Margaret Mary Church

If Jesus showed up today would you be ready? Fr. Walsh tells us that the season of Advent is a time to get ourselves ready in order to receive the Lord at Christmas. In order to do this, he stresses the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Jesus Christ our king laid down his life for us. As his people, he calls us to imitate him. Fr. Adam asks us today to pray about how we can receive the Grace of God, into our hearts, this upcoming Advent Season.”

Deacon Dave talks about the parables in the recent Gospels. He tells us our faith is not only about knowing God in our head but knowing God in our hearts, and the need to embrace His love in order to share it to those around us.

Our God is a God of mercy and love. Deacon Tommy tells us today that this love and mercy ceases to exist if we don't pass it along to those who need it. We are all called to share these blessings in our everyday lives.

Peace be with you! Fr. Shenoy tells us we need need to act justly, work for peace, and do what God desires of us. He stresses to us that we need to be guided by love in all that we do.

We are all called to let the Light of Christ shine brightly in our hearts. Fr. Walsh tells us that in order to achieve this, we need to find those among us whom live their lives like modern day saints. Once we do, we need to model their behavior.

Fr. Adam tells the story of Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko, a priest that united workers in communist Poland. He spread the message of love and dignity throughout. Fr. Adam reminds us that in order to love the Lord and love our neighbor, we must first have a relationship with the Lord.

On our Parish's Feast Day, Fr. Walsh tells us about our patroness, St. Margaret Mary. Her life was one devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Fr. Walsh says to us that contemplation and prayer are a very important part of our spiritual life.

Are you prepared? Fr. Anthony tells us today that we are called to the banquet of the Lord, and we need to make sure we are prepared to be seen as worthy guests. He also tells us of the need of our Sister Diocese in the Dominican Republic.

Fr. Shenoy tells us today it takes the Christian community to make a vineyard but it takes the individual vines, which is us, to make it fruitful.

Meet Deacon Dave Engasser! He tells us today of the importance of our parish in his life and how our church encourages us to produce good fruit, in our lives, to serve His Kingdom.

Today's Gospel message is one of repentance and humility. Fr. Walsh tells us that today we need to humble ourselves and look at our own faith lives, in doing so hopefully we will make a new commitment to Him and His church.

Fr. Adam talks about the Gospel this Sunday and explains the perspective of the day laborer. He also speaks of the importance of family, for they are the first catechists in the lives of their children.

Each of us are in need of God’s forgiveness, but are we willing to forgive others? Fr. Shenoy tells us today forgiveness is directly related to healing. Without the process of healing, forgiveness is not possible.

“If you want to change the world love your family.” Deacon Tommy tells us today our family unit is where it all begins, when we infuse our family with the love and forgiveness of Christ, they have something to bring out to our community and beyond.

God is Love. Deacon Nemsy tells us today whoever loves is a child of God. We need to remember, in these times of uncertainty, that love drives out fear and that Jesus has an unstoppable love for us all.

How do we experience the depth of the Lord’s presence in our lives? Fr. Walsh tells us today, in order to do so, we need to spend time in prayer with the Lord. He also tells us we will be faced with challenges in our lives, and if we attempt to live in union with Christ, He will be there to assist us every step of the way.

Peter was able to understand who Jesus truly was in the Gospel today. He was able to do this because of his close relationship with Jesus. Deacon Bill tells us today that we are all called to have this same close relationship with Jesus, but in order to do so, we need to make time in our daily lives for Him.

Who do you say that I am? Deacon Tommy tells us today that St. Peter “the Rock of the Church” told Jesus that “He is the Son of the Most High." Tommy challenges us to build our faith on the rock, the Catholic Church, that was built upon Peter and then those that succeeded him.

No matter who you are or where you are, you are welcome at the Lord’s table. Deacon Bob tells us today, God wants to bring all of us to salvation. He then talks about the Home of the Holy Angels in Uganda. Soon to be Deacon, Dave Engasser continues to talk about the need of this school and their need of our support.

We love Jesus, we admire Jesus, but can we trust Him to be in control of our lives? Fr. Shenoy encourages us today to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and let His word guide our lives.

Fr. Adam talks about the need for confession today. He tells us that we need to turn to the confessional as a source of healing. This is where we encounter the love and mercy of Jesus. In order to share the love of Jesus in our lives, we need to experience His healing in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

What is it we treasure? Deacon Tommy tells us today, whether if we are finding treasure, or if we are looking for it, we need to acknowledge the treasure that we already have. He also reminds us that the joy of the Kingdom of Heaven is something that we need to see in our daily lives.

What am I willing to sacrifice? Deacon Bill tells us two stories of people building their faith. He challenges us today, to open our eyes to see what we can do in our daily lives to build the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.

These are indeed crazy times… Fr. Shenoy challenges us today to “light a candle and put it on a lamp stand” to let people know we are indeed the wheat and not the weeds.
