Homily Rewind from St. Margaret Mary Church

We respond, “Thanks be to God” after the reading of a scripture. Fr. Walsh asks the question today, “Do we truly believe the Word of God in our hearts?” He also challenges us to be aware of what the Lord is asking of us personally in these challenging times.

Deacon Adam talks about 2 virtues, humility and poverty. Both of these virtues help us recognize that we need help from someone else. He tells us when we are in this time of need, when we are vulnerable, we can truly receive the love of God.

Deacon Nemsy tells us today we are loved by God not to the benefit of ourselves but for the benefit of others. He says we will not be truly happy until we try and brighten the lives others. He challenges us to do something beautiful for others today.

We are all called to be ambassadors of Christ! Fr. Shenoy challenges us to share the light of Christ to all those we meet today, tomorrow, and everyday.

It is all about love. Deacon Tommy tells us that God is love, and every time we show love to others we enter in to the presence of God.

Sharing the message of Christ is not always easy. Deacon Bill shares with us today some practical ways to be Christ to others and in doing so, sharing the Gospel.

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith. Fr. Walsh tells us today, that there are many mysteries of our faith. One of these mysteries is the fact that Jesus transforms himself into the Eucharist. We are reminded we need to prepare ourselves in order to receive Christ. In order to receive the benefit from receiving the Eucharist, we need to truly believe Jesus is present in this Body and Blood.

What is the Trinity? Fr. Walsh tells us today that the Trinity is the central mystery of our faith. Even though we cannot fully understand the Trinity, we can pray to each one, God the Father as Creator, Jesus the Son as Savior, and the Holy Spirit as one who inspires.

The Trinity is indeed a mystery, a mystery of love. Deacon Adam tells us today we are called to this love in order to combat the hatred in today's world. When we love like we are called to do, love prevails!

Today, on Pentecost, Fr. James gives his final Homily. He is leaving for another parish this week. He genuinely thanks everyone for their support during his time spent at St. Margaret Mary. He also tells the story of how the Holy Spirit spoke to him personally. He encourages all of us to listen to that voice in our heart and submit our will to that voice; when we do this we will truly see miracles...

Jesus, Paul and Philip Neri all lived out their call from God in their own unique way, with the individual gifts they were given, and in the troubled times in which they lived.  They had a personal relationship with God first and they relied on the Holy Spirit to be with them.

Deacon Adam shares stories with us on this Memorial Day of those who gave their lives for others, he then relates that to Jesus’s ultimate sacrifice.

“Go and make disciples of all nations,” this was Jesus’ final message to His disciples before He ascended into heaven. Fr. Walsh reminds us today that Jesus left us the Holy Spirit, in order to help us make a difference in this world and to help us proclaim the Good News of Christ.

“I will not leave you orphans.” Jesus tells this to His disciples before He leaves them. Fr. Walsh explains that He did not leave us alone, the Holy Spirit is the advocate for Jesus. The Holy Spirit was there to be with the disciples and continues to be with us still today. Fr. Walsh proceeds to give us important logistical information about the reopening of our church. He warns us to use caution...

Who is God? Fr. Walsh tells us today, our way to the Father is through Jesus. Our challenge is to get to know who Jesus truly is. He explains the best way to know Jesus is through the Gospels, and by getting to know Jesus we are closer to loving Him. Jesus is truly the way, the truth, and the life and by understanding this about Jesus we can be closer to knowing our Father.

We know it is easy to see God when all is going well, but when hard times come, do we hear God say: 'my right hand will hold you?" Do we act like God not only has the whole world in his hands, but he has each one of us right there carved in his palm? Today let us faithfully walk with God and confidently hold His hand.

Hello Dolly! Fr. Walsh brings his sheep to Mass this morning to teach us how shepherds care for their flock. He tells us shepherds not only care for their flock but he knows them. When Jesus is referred to as “The Good Shepherd” it means He knows us, has gone on before us, and fully understands what we are going through. We are also reminded that we need to be shepherds to other people especially...

On the road to Emmaus, the Lord is recognized when He breaks bread with those He was walking with. Fr Walsh tells us today, even though we cannot gather for the Eucharist, we can experience the Lord in a variety of different ways, and we can continue to be transformed by His presence in our lives.

Today Sr. Rosemary compares our faith community to redwood trees. The roots of these trees are connected to each other. In this way, they support each other in order to continue to thrive.

Blest are those who have not seen and believe… Fr. Walsh, challenges us today, to be an example of the risen Lord to our communities. He reminds us that it all comes down to our relationship with Jesus, and His call in our lives. We are called to serve the marginalized, to empower the vulnerable, and to heal those who suffer from spiritual wounds.

The Lord has risen Hallelujah! Fr. Walsh tells us that just because the Lord has risen that it does not guarantee our own salvation. Jesus lead a life of obedience and surrender, we are challenged today to exercise the same obedience to the Lord that Jesus had.

Palm Sunday features the reading of the Passion of Christ. Fr. Walsh then reminds us that the story of the Passion is an invitation to take up our own cross and follow Jesus. In today's world, this means looking at our heart and making sure we are reflecting on our own faith.

In this time of uncertainty, Fr. Walsh challenges us to look to the Lord who is the way, the truth and the life. He tells us we need to make Jesus a priority in our lives, and it is only in the Lord we will find the peace we seek.

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound... In the midst of all the uncertainty and powerlessness we are feeling these days, Fr. Walsh reminds us that we are never alone. Our Baptismal Covenant gives us the Amazing Grace of Our Lord. This grace gives us the peace and tranquility to sustain us in these uncertain times.

Fr. Walsh talks to us today about conversion. He tells us it is more than just switching religions, it is about changing our hearts by turning away from sin.
