The disciples needed to discover what Jesus knew about prayer. Jesus taught them that God-centered prayer changes us by focusing on the character of our Hallowed Father. It also changes our lives by extending His rule onto the earth through us. Today, we investigate how God's Kingdom manifests itself in our functional dependence on Him.

Think of all the things the disciples could have asked Jesus to help them do: How to teach as He did? Maybe how to study the Torah? How about how to cast out a demon? None of these made it on the disciples list. The only thing that they asked Jesus to teach them was how to pray. So what did Jesus know that the disciples needed to discover?

The church in Ephesus was looking like the world around it. Paul wrote 1 Timothy to encourage Timothy to deal with the false teachers and to help clean up how the church was acting. Timothy’s actions and character, Paul said, would enable him to do so so that the church would look more like Christ. The same applies to us and our church today.

Promises are declarations to do or not do something. Given people are unable to control life circumstances, a promise is more like a wish or strong desire. Promises made by God are different. Promises made by God are better related to a guarantee - something will happen because God will make it happen.

Often, we think that worship is bound to the act of singing - we “worship” the Lord. Worship is much more than an expression in song. As we know who God is and trust Him, joy is the natural overflow. Worship is simply the recognition that God is the reason for our joy. Today, we will see this principle in the life of Mary and discover three reasons for Mary’s song of worship.

People are naturally self-oriented, but we crave happiness and joy that flows from a God-centered orientation. Today, we seek to uncover a way forward - how happiness and joy flow from finding our identity and purpose in the work of the Lord.

Victory is “an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle, game, or other competition.” We naturally confirm our idea of victory in the realm of sports or personal goals being achieved.
