Psalm 112 // As we pray for obedience, Christ helps us by embodying it, sharing its benefits with us, and empowering us to live it out. In Psalm 112 we see three areas where Christ’s obedience fuels our own: blessing, generosity, and confidence.

Psalm 137 // What do we do when we are rightfully angry at injustice or suffering? We must learn, as the Psalmist does, to confront our anger, pray our anger, and release our anger as a response to the victory and compassion of Jesus.

Psalm 51 //

Psalm 13 // For the Christian, lament helps us move to the questions beyond intellectual meaning or understanding, turning towards a greater reality that God has not abandoned us, even when we don’t feel it. In our asking, seeking, and turning to God, we gain personal knowledge of his salvation of God, secured for us in Christ.

Psalm 22 // Before Psalm 22 becomes the prayer of Christ, it is first a prayer given to the people of God. A prayer for suffering saints, for weary believers, and for those moments when God feels far away. Deliverance begins when faith continues speaking to God in the darkness. **due to a recording issue, the audio is of lower quality than normal**

Psalm 40 // Trials present opportunities for us to exercise patience, repentance, gratitude for and witness of God’s work, and our hope in the Lord who saves through Christ.

Psalm 100 // Praise is a responsive, personal, and  prophetic physical expression of gratitude towards and worship of God in Christ.

Genesis 11:1-32 // In the story of Babel, we find an example of what happens when we are driven not by the desire for the world to bear the name of Christ but the world to bear our own name. Godless ambition is seeking glory through dependence—but in God's mercy he frustrates our best laid plans and comes down to meet us in Christ, drawing us back to himself.

Genesis 9:18-10:32 // Genesis 9–10 reminds us that salvation from judgment is not the same thing as the full renewal of humanity. Though the flood washed the world, sin, shame, and self-glory still persisted in the human heart. Yet, God’s mercy moves toward human shame to cover it in mercy and preserve His redemptive promise.

Genesis 8:20-9:17 // The surest balm against anxiety, the problem of the future, is the provision of the promises of God. Through God's covenant with Noah, we find the promise of preservation for the earth, the promise of dignity for all mankind, and the promise of grace for God's people.

Genesis 8:1-19 // God doesn’t just protect Noah from the flood. He remembers Noah after the flood, bringing him out to new life and new purpose. As Noah represents the archetype of salvation, we believe the truth that as we cry out to Christ for remembrance, he will never forget us.

Genesis 6:1-7:24 // This text reveals a world fully given over to sin and therefore justly subject to God’s judgment, yet in the midst of that judgment God makes a way of salvation—preserving Noah through the very waters that destroy. 

Genesis 4:17 - 5:32 // All humanity stands under the same verdict—“and he died”—yet Genesis 4–5 reveals two ways of being human: building civilization without communion with God, or calling upon the name of the Lord in dependent faith. True humanity is not found in what we build, but in being restored through God’s saving grace—a salvation that ultimately comes to fullness in Christ.

Genesis 4:1-16 // As Cain follows the way of sin, we see how the flesh presumes upon God's grace, objects to God's justice, and breeds an indifference of death. The way out of the flesh is looking to Jesus, our keeper and protector, who took on flesh to rescue us from the enemy within.

Genesis 3:8-24 // If the LORD God drew near to Adam and Eve in humanity’s very first sin, why would we expect Him to do otherwise with us? The God who comes near does so deliberately—meeting our sin with real consequences, yet never without mercy. Even now, He moves toward us not to abandon or destroy, but to seek, to cover, and to restore.

Genesis 3:1-7 // The heart of temptation is found in the enticement of a desire for freedom, a desire for power, and a desire for pleasure. Christ shows us the way out of temptation, and breaks bread with us so that we may not be led into it.

Genesis 2:18-24 // 

Genesis 2:4-17 // We were created to work, but our work in the world is not for the purpose of production and advancement—but for creative cultivation with God. To regain our ability to work with joy and meaning, we must learn to see it as a stewardship from God leading to faithful trust in God's own work in Christ.

Genesis 2:1-3 // By examination of God's Rest, we find how we are invited into it. Rest is not simply the stopping of work, but is a positive good. Resting in God is the end (goal) of life. Rest is a contemplative enjoyment and a gift. To learn to rest we must unharden our hearts, runs to Christ's work, and embrace the joys of the soul.

Genesis 1:14-31 // The world is alive with the glory of God, if we are awake to see it. Throughout he creation narrative we see how God creates enchanted time, enchanted abundance, enchanted dignity, enchanted stewardship, and fulfills it all with "very good".

Genesis 1:3-13 //  The song of creation draws us towards God in two ways: 1) Creation is deeper than you see; 2) Creation is better than you believe. 

Genesis 1:1-3 // Distance from our story means distance from meaning. If we get the beginning wrong, we are in danger of getting the whole thing wrong. So let’s answer two questions together: 1) Why Does God create?; and 2) How Does God Create?

Jude 17-25 // Jude exhorts us to keep ourselves in the love of God. We can do this because of (a) our distinctly holy devotion to Him and (b) His assurance to wholly keep us in him to the end.

Jude 5-16 // Salvation is at stake in our  vigilance over life and doctrine. No one persists in faith by accident. Jude gives us three negative examples of how not to keep awake and aware, so that we might learn how to stay vigilant.

Jude 1-4 // Because God keeps His people by grace, the church must lovingly and courageously contend for the once-for-all gospel whenever it is quietly redefined or slowly surrendered.
