In this request to God by Nehemiah we should learn when we pray to incorporate this as a model prayer along with the model prayer of Jesus Christ and and make our requests of God with a greater sense of knowing that we will get what we ask.

Here we recognize a change in governmental leadership. We also see that the people were led away from the ordinances of God and served false gods, contrary philosophies, false doctrines. This attitude toward God angered Him. He had brought them out of Egyptian bondage and emancipated them; and fed them, and clothed them, and protected them.

This is a demonstration of the power that God has made available to those that will live according to His will. How awesome it is that he has provided humanity with divine power. In this we learn a great lesson in forgiving. Paul here is acknowledging the fact that Onesimus had done some wrong to Philemon. Onesimus apparently received Paul’s counseling by the gospel of Jesus Christ and received the Holy Ghost and remained with Paul and became one of his assistance. It seems obvious to me that Onesimus confessed to Paul why he had run away from Philemon.

In this passage of scripture we should recognize the fact that those that are blessed to be a part of the church of Jesus Christ is because of God’s agape’ love for humanity. No one can buy salvation; deceive God and sneak in, or do enough to be chosen one over another. Salvation is by the grace and mercy of God.
