Have you ever given up hope for something you've waited a long time for? Are you still waiting for something like that? Be encouraged as we consider that the Lord is the God who gives that which He promises. He is the giver of all that is good and every spiritual blessing. Do you trust God no matter how hopeless your situation feels? We pray you'll be strengthened in that kind of trust in the Lord as Pastor Darrell takes us through Genesis 16 and 21. We will hear about the trouble of taking matters into one's own hands while waiting and about the God of the Bible who sees, hears, and cares. 

In Genesis 12-15 we see that Abraham's life, like ours, was marked by great faith and then not such great faith. The stories of Abraham are in the bible to show us that we need a better hero than Abraham and that God will protect His people. His intentions for us and the world won't be thwarted; they are sure. 

In Genesis, we learn about how God defends, sustains, and enables His people. We see that again in His call to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-9 to leave all that He knows and to put all trust and faith in God. By faith, Abraham obeyed and worshiped God. We would do well to do the same. What is God calling you to leave and to trust Him about?

In this passage (Genesis 9:18-12:3), we see that even the great heroes of the faith like Noah are weak, failing, sinful, and in need of God's rescue. God's original intention for His glory to be brought to all nations is repeatedly rejected by man and only made fully possible through Jesus' humility and self-sacrifice.

Like the ark that Noah built, Christ preserves the lives of all who are found in Him. Those who are in Him are called to walk with Him faithfully for a lifetime.

In Genesis 2 we are reminded of our call to be God's kingdom representatives. That should play out in us being God's ambassadors and being a blessing to God's creation. Despite our failings in doing this, Jesus shows us how to fill the earth with the right reflection of the image of God and He provides a way back to God.

In the closing words of Philippians, we are reminded of some of the key themes in God's Word to us through Paul's letter writing. In Philippians 4:21-23 we can be reminded of the new identity of saints in Christ, the blessedness of the fellowship of the saints, and the calling of the saints (to give glory to God). 

Pastor Darrell leads us through Psalm 28 where we see that our God is The Rock who hears our cries and actively helps us. 

Pastor Darrell preaches on Philippians 4:19 where Paul declares the promise, "My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Pastor Darrell reminds us that the context of a passage is key to understanding God's Word. Philippians 4:10-13 is a passage of scripture that is commonly taken out of context. Looking at the context of Philippians and the theme of contentment will help us understand what Paul meant when he said, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." 

Pastor Darrell encourages us through Philippians 4:10-20 to remember our brothers and sisters in Christ who have served us faithfully and to also be brothers and sisters who faithfully serve with hearts that are grateful for God's grace. 

In this Christmas Eve service, we see the humility of God the Son in Philippians 2:3-11. 

Christ's kind of love: life-sacrificing in order to be life-giving, redeeming, sustaining, protecting, compassionate, forgiving, righteous, comforting, merciful, patient, abounding, and permanent. What is biblical peace and how do we receive it? Today for Advent, we remember the peace we have from Christ as we look at Philippians 4:4-9.

The joy one receives from Christ is a joy that isn't determined by circumstances. During Advent, we remember this Jesus-derived joy and what biblical joy is as we look at Philippians 4:4-5.  "Rejoice in the Lord always; I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand."

This first week of Advent we prepare our hearts for Christmas by looking at Philippians 3:7-4:1 and remembering the hope we have in Christ. 

On this Reformation Sunday, we look at Romans 11:28-36 with guest preacher, Bob Higby. Here we see the centrality of God's effectual calling through which we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Be encouraged by the truths of God's irrevocable grace.

Why is there suffering in the world? What is the purpose of suffering? We can find answers to these questions as well as encouragement about suffering as we look at Philippians 3:8-10 and other passages. 

Does Jesus have superior value above all else to you? Be encouraged through this preaching on Philippians 3:7-9 to apply yourself to desire Christ above all else. 

Be encouraged today in that our salvation is not based on what we do, but on who Christ is and His perfect righteousness and faithfulness. Philippians 3:4-9 reminds us that our only hope for salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.
