I updated my field recorder so that now I can stream audio to Discord and record it on the recorder at the same time. Yay! We celebrated by having fun on Discord with sounds. This is a short clip of some of the results.

I'm not entirely sure what that tabla-esque sound is near the beginning, but I'm pretty sure it's a wall of triangle waves being run through a SEM filter that is very-nearly closed. CEM3340 oscillators sound very lovely, by the way.

I think this is the first time I've actually made psytrance. I'm pretty happy with this for a first attempt. 8bit Cipher CV outputs work wonders for filter cutoff automation. Pretty perfect for this kind of thing, really. Also, I still have no noise module. More goofing around with techno beats. I realize this might be easier if I had a noise source. This isn't some fancy shiny thing I'm super proud of, but it was fun. That's what matters.

Some nights, it is nice to walk along the sidewalks just outside of your normal routine. Perhaps you'll find techno where you expected ambience. Perhaps you'll even like it. My rack was intended for generative ambient stuff, but it turns out that it's quite flexible. One day, I might just conquer the world.

More voltage-controlled switches! More logic gates slammed into unity mixers! More sloths!? This space flight thing is weird, man. Bravo to the Contour 1 for being an effective shuffle rhythm generator. What a handy clock! I mean function generator.

Testing an idea spurred by some nonsense that Sonic Kitchen said on Discord. Took the idea and ran with it. This is more of a concept or test than anything, but it was cool enough to warrant sharing. No sequencers used. Just a lot of logic (and 8bit Cipher twice over!).

Created for Avantgarde Music Challenge 005, wherein we create things with samples from Kirby Super Star. I decided to try out some sample playback modules in VCV Rack. Sonic mayhem ensues.

A four-step sequencer goes a long way if you've got a clock divider, a logic module, and a unity mixer. The main sound is a Joranalogue Generate 3. No samples were used in this. I don't know how it ended up sounding so piano-like.

Decided I'd get weird with the Generate 3. It turns out that Delay No More can't resist joining in for the getting of the weird. Fun ensues. Sometimes it's nice to break free of the restraints of quantized 1v/o CV. Other things I learned for this patch: The Xaoc Tirana II does not handle audio-rate clocks very well. Shame.
