Today we celebrate the feast of two martyrs, Saint Pontian and Saint Hippolytus. Father reads some reflections from Pope Benedict about these two saints. Let us love like them and combat evil in our world with the love of God.

Today in the United States we celebrate the feast of Jane Frances de Chantal. Saint Jane Frances de Chantal founded the order known as the Sisters of the Visitation of Holy Mary for women who were unable to join other orders for various reasons.

Today is the feast of Saint Clare of Assisi who lived in the thirteen century. Saint Clare of Assisi was a friend of Saint Francis who helped her to grow in faith even as she strengthened him in his path to holiness. Let us make good friends who will draw us closer to God.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Lawrence. A deacon and martyr of the Church. Saint Lawrence’s life of charity to the poor eventually led to his death by being roasted alive. Father shares some reflections by Pope Benedict regarding Saint Lawrence.

Today is the feast of a Jewish woman known by many people as Edith Stein. This saint converted to Catholicism after reading the autobiography of Teresa of Ávila. She eventually became a Cloister Carmelite sister taking the name Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.

Today, the Church is celebrating the feast of St. Dominic. St. Dominic was a contemporary of St. Francis of Assisi, and the moto of his order, also know as the Order of Preachers, is to contemplate the Truth and to share with others the fruit of contemplation.

Do you have faith? How strong is your faith? Is it as strong as our father in faith? Today’s second reading from chapter 11 of the letter to the Hebrews talks about the man whom Pope Francis calls our father in faith. He was speaking about Abraham.

Thousands flocked to his tiny church in Ars, France and after his death and canonization, he was named the patron saint of parish priests, and more recently of all priests.

Today is the feast of Saint Peter Chrysologus. Father shares some words from this saint about how much God values us. We are called to see our value and share our good gifts with others to be ambassadors for God who wishes to be known through out the world.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Martha from the bible. Even though Saint Martha had her flaws, Father encourages us imitate her faith when she professed to Jesus, “I believe you are the resurrection and the life”.

Father talks about the readings for todays which are from 18th chapter from the book of the prophet Jerimiah about the potter and the clay. Even when we make mistakes that disfigure our souls, God is able to reshape us and heal our spirit just as the potter is able to reform the clay in his hand.

Pope Saint John Paul II canonized Saint Hermano Pedro around this time in the year 2002. Hermano Pedro was known as the Saint Francis of the Americas because of his love and service for the poor and souls in purgatory. Father closes with a saying Hermano Pedro would often say.

Today is the feast of the Grandparents of Jesus, Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. Father reflects on some words from Pope Benedict about these two saints. Grandparents are called to be teachers and pass along the faith to the generations ahead of them.

Today is the feast of Saint James the Greater. Father Kubicki was named after Saint James, and he explains possible reasons why Saint James was known as the Greater. Saint James and his brother Saint John are also known as the Sons of Thunder.

Father Discusses the readings at mass today which talk about the Our Father. Specifically, Father elaborates on the meaning of the words “Thy kingdom come”. Let us prepare our hearts so we can truly say these words next time we say the Our Father.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Bridget of Sweden. Saint Bridget was a mother of eight children who, after the death of her husband, founded a monastery for both men and women. Saint Bridget did this all during the time of the Black Plague in the 1300s.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene from the bible. Thomas Aquinas once called her the apostle of the apostles. Saint Mary Magdalene gives us an example of perseverance when she stayed at the tomb on Easter morning waiting for Jesus.

Today we celebrate a Saint who is a Doctor of the Church. Saint Lawrence of Brindisi had a deep love for scripture which inspired all his teaching. Father encourages us to develop a deep love for Scripture in our own lives in imitation of this great saint.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Apollinaris of Ravenna. Saint Apollinaris was a disciple of Saint Peter. As a bishop of Ravenna he was exiled from his Diocese four times and was eventually martyred  because he would not renounce his faith.
