Fr. Kubicki 2 Minute Prayer Reflections

Today we celebrate the Birthday of Mary the Mother of God. Father invites us to reflect on the great goodness that flows from the life of Mary. Father reads some reflection from Pope Benedict about our heavenly mother.

Today Father Kubicki talks about the word “Beatitude”, explaining what it means and how we can reconcile why these people are referred to as blessed in the eyes of God. Jesus’ teaching turns the concepts of greatness upside down.

Today father encourages us to do a morning offering so we can give everything to God each day. Part of our day is needing to work, if Jesus spent most of His life as a work man then we should be pleased to be able to take part in work that we are tasked with.

Father wishes everyone a happy Labor Day. Father takes a unique perspective on work from what most people might think of when work is mentioned, by offering three key functions that work plays in our lives. Let’s appreciate work in our lives as a gift from God.

Today in the Gospel Jesus tells his followers that they will need to hate their families if they want to follow him. Father reads some reflections from Pope Francis about this passage. We must put God above everything and everyone, even our families.

With the feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta coming up, Father reads some words from Mother Teresa. Father notes that Jesus suffers by the suffering of others. Father asks us how we can help ease the suffering of Jesus through helping those around us.

Father talks about the words from the Gospel in mass today regarding Jesus asking Peter to put out into the deep waters, so he could catch more fish. Father explains how we as Christians can go out into the deep in our own spiritual lives.

Today is the feast of Raymond Nonnatus, the patron saint of Midwives. Saint Raymond joined a religious order to released slaves by ransoming them with his money. When eventually his money ran out he ransomed himself as payment to free other slaves.

Today we honor the founder of the Little Sisters of the Poor, Saint Jeanne Jugan. Her heart went particularly to the elderly. Like Saint Jeanne Jugan lets imitate her example of humility and gentleness as we care for our elders and all people we encounter. 

Today is the feast of the death of Saint John the Baptist. Saint John the Baptist witnessed to Herod who was living in sin. This heroic act of love eventually led to his death. As Christians, we are called to warn people of poisons in our world today.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine. Now days many Mothers are in distress from their children leaving the faith for empty promises of the world. Father Shares a prayer to Saint Monica for all the children who have wondered away from God.

Today we celebrate the feast of our lady of Czestochowa, who’s painting was slashed up by Christians in the 1400s who did not believe in veneration of the saints. Let us respect images that represent loved ones of ours, be them earthly or heavenly.

Father went to school at a College named after today’s saint, Saint Louis. Saint Louis was the King of France in the thirteenth century, who’s feast we celebrate today. Father reads words from a letter that Saint Louis wrote to his son in how to live well.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Nathanial, one of the twelve Apostles. Another name used for him is Bartholomew. Saint Bartholomew stands as an example of how to live out the gospel and love of Jesus without doing extraordinary deeds.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Rose of Lima. Saint Rose wanted to follow Saint Catherine and become a Dominican sister. However, her family wanted her to get married. Unable to join the sisters because of her parents, Saint Rose found sanctity by living out the single life.

Today we celebrate the crowning of Mary after she was taken up into heaven. Father explains how Mary is the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Just as Mary shares in Jesus’ royal glory so are we partakers in the royalty of the Jesus, our brother and Lord.

Today we celebrate the feast of Bernard of Clairvaux, a charismatic person who brought many others with him when he entered the monastery in around the year AD 1110. Let us remember that God uses natural gifts to bring about his divine will.

Saint John Eudes, the saint who’s feast day we celebrate today, gives us an insight into Paul’s letter to the Galatians. We are called as members of the Church to participate in the sufferings of Jesus who is the head of the body of Christ.

Being a Jesuit Priest himself, Father Kubicki talks about a Jesuit Saint named Alberto Hurtado. Losing his father at the age of four, Saint Alberto grew up poor and wanted to be a lawyer, but God called him to serve the poor and homeless as a priest.

Father speaks on the parable from the Gospel of Matthew about the Landlord who paid all of the workers the same wage regardless of how long they worked. Let us learn from this challenging parable the generosity of God to his people.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Stephen of Hungry, a king, who brought about order and peace through the light of Christ to his country. Father reads some words of advice Saint Stephen gave his son in how to rule with honor and faith in God.
