Acts 1:12-26 God often does His deepest work in the quiet season between promise and fulfillment, where we find the church in Acts 1.

2 Peter 2:21-25

1 Peter 1:3-5: Because Jesus is risen, we have a living hope. The resurrection becomes real, not in abstract, but in the ordinary places where our hope comes to life - in love, justice, worship, community, and death.

Acts 1:4-11: Before God sends us He shapes us - and that often happens in the waiting. The same God who call you will also empower you.

Mark 15:48: Everybody knows about Good Friday. We all celebrate Easter. But what about Silent Saturday? The theme focuses on the waiting time between crucifixion and resurrection. Many of our people find their lives lived on the Saturday in-between.

Matthew 26:6-16: In Matthew 26, only hours before the cross, two followers reveal what Jesus is worth to them, one with oil and the other with coins.

Matthew 5:38-48: Kingdom life is marked by radical love that goes beyond fairness, even toward our enemies.

Mark 8:27-38: Only one question is important: Who is Jesus? Only one answer will do: Jesus is Lord.

Mark 7:1-23: Jesus focused on the heart and not just the hands.  Authorities from Jerusalem were questioning Jesus’ disciples concerning the traditions of the Law.  Jesus, however, told the tradition keepers that surface piety was not nearly as important as inward purity.

Matthew 5:21-26: Jesus challenges our anger and hidden grudges, showing that true righteousness begins in the heart.

Mark 6:1-13: The people of Nazareth asked “Who is Jesus?”  Are there ways in which we limit the Lord by our preconceived notions about the identity of Jesus?

Mark 4:35-41: Jesus calms the storm as He announces that God reigns.  In this passage, Jesus restores God’s dominion over the chaotic world invaded by the forces that wreak havoc: death, sin, sickness, sorrow, divorce, and devastation. We, too, feel like sometimes Jesus is asleep while we face the storms of life.

Psalm 126:3 declares that "we are filled with joy,” showing us how remembering God’s past faithfulness becomes a foundation for joy that can carry us even in times of sorrow.

Mark 3:20-35: Who is Jesus? Even His own family thinks He’s gone mad. Mark is leading his reader along to discover that Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah.

Mark 2:1-13: The most powerful words ever heard, “Your sins are forgiven.”  The forgiveness of sins emerges in a story of the healing of the paralytic.  Four friends carry a friend to Jesus, literally unroofing the roof.  Jesus declares, “Your sins are forgiven you.”
