Modern culture has tried to tear down any semblance of a Biblical definition for manhood. You can't say this, you can't do that, except in creation, God defines exactly what it means to be a man. A man is wired for a relationship with God, wired for mission, and wired for family. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, here's our tribute to all men!

A critical heart can hinder us from seeing God's potential in our neighbor. We are called to love God and love our neighbor, and in doing so, we must be careful not to judge others for the sin that also lives inside us. Grace and humility are the only ways to overcome a critical spirit.

Does anger have control over your life? It's easy to sin in anger, but Scripture gives us three silver bullets with which we can fight our angry tendencies. Elisha's life is proof that God can work even in the little things. We just have to open up our eyes to see how He is working. There is way more for us than against us, but Lord, open up our eyes to see You amidst our daily struggles and hangups. The Lord is on your side today and every day.

Heaven awaits those who hang on to the end. In 2 Kings 5, we learn of an unnamed slave girl and an army commander named Naaman. Craig gives us some lessons to learn from their story - to live without resentment and to hang on to the end because a land with no more pain awaits us. Our hope is in Heaven.

We used to have thoughts like a caterpillar. We felt ugly, unworthy, and unloved. But meeting Jesus is our catalyst moment - He transforms us into thinking and living like a butterfly. Jesus sets us free from hurtful thoughts. All those who declare their faith in Jesus and get baptized are daughters of the King, loved and valued without condition, and declared beautiful by their Creator.

Today's message can be summed up in three words - "Don't give up." Even when life gets you down and you feel stuck in your situation, keep following Jesus. God will bless every ditch you dig as long as you continue to follow Him and do the work He requires. Following Jesus ain't easy, but it's worth the eternal reward that Jesus won for us on the cross. As followers of Jesus, we must understand exactly who God is. God is loving, merciful, kind and generous, but at the same time, He is just. The Bible says that judgment is coming for those who refuse to receive Him. So today is the day - do not wait - to make a decision to follow Jesus and claim Him as your Lord and Savior. God calls each and every one of us on our own discipleship journey. Beyond getting baptized and claiming Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God calls us to a life of obedience. When we surrender ourselves over to Him, He transforms us to look more and more like Jesus. Wherever you are on your discipleship journey, God is calling you deeper. Come worship with us.

When Elijah chose Elisha to be his apprentice and the next prophet of God, Elisha left everything behind. He burned all of his wealth and fed the whole town with a BBQ of his oxen. When God calls us to be His followers, we likewise must leave everything behind to pursue Him. There is no safety in following Jesus. Rather, we must deny ourselves and take up our cross to walk with Jesus.

Peter, a disciple of Jesus, failed several times throughout the Gospel. He didn't trust Jesus enough to be able to walk out on the water, he questions Jesus' plan to die for the sins of the world, and he even denies his faith in front of Jesus. Despite his shortcomings, Peter's failures don't define him. The love of Jesus defines him, and the cross proves it.

Our church spent over $122,000 in missions last year. Reaching lost people isn't just something we talk about here at Fern Creek, it's what we do. Our Local Outreach Minister, Josh Cooper, challenges us to host a block party this summer so that we can get to know our neighbors, share life with them, and then talk to them about Jesus. Our Kids Minister, Gary Boschain, leads us this morning in the Old Testament story of an eight-year-old crowned king. There wasn't a more obedient or righteous king in all of Israel's history than King Josiah, until Jesus shows up some generations later. We learn throughout Josiah's life that God calls His followers to know and do what He says, no matter how young, old, or insignificant we may fee...

Not even the most evil king of all could fall outside of God's power to restore. Today we hear the story of Manasseh, a man who burned one of his sons alive, and his encounter with God. Open your Bibles to 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles, but more importantly, open your hearts to the love that God has for every single person He has created.

A boy crowned king when he was only 16?! Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Uzziah, out of pride, does something in the temple of the Lord he's not supposed to do, and when the priests call him out, we see even more consequences of pride and stubbornness. Open up your Bibles to 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles, and let's see what we can glean from Uzziah's example.  

When there's a discrepancy between following your friends or following Jesus, you better always follow Jesus. Looking at the story of King Jehoshaphat, we see how important it is for God's people to surround themselves with like-minded, righteous company. If God can show mercy to a king like Ahab whose wife Jezebel murdered a man in order to take his land, then God can certainly show grace to you. There's lots of good stuff to glean from the story of King Ahab in 1 Kings, but the biggest takeaway is that grace is available to you today. Sin has its consequences, but let's listen together to see how God intervenes in the middle of King Ahab's mess.

Don't tune out! That's right, we are talking about fasting today! It's important to know what it is, but it's even more important to know why Christians should practice it. Fasting helps followers of Jesus turn their hearts, minds, souls, and even their bodies toward Christ during a crucial or critical moment. We invite to join us in fasting from Monday to Tuesday's dinner over the next 10 weeks!

We can go to church once a week and get some valuable Scripture intake, but if we want to become mature disciples rooted in the Word of God, we have to learn to read Scripture for ourselves. Today, we learn and practice four steps of reading, reflecting, responding, and resting in God's Word, so that we may encounter His presence and His truth for ourselves on a daily basis. 

With recent news of people storming the Capitol, Craig provides an explanation of why things have become the way they are. Our nation is experiencing symptoms of a broken foundation that only Jesus can mend and heal. As followers of Jesus, we must continue to press on and live righteously so that God's Spirit can start to fill in the cracks.
