Fantasy for the Ages

So much to see and learn here in the Aiel Waste. We're with Rand, Mat, Egwene, and all the rest again in this episode, out at Rhuidean as Rand shapes his plans. Not that the forces of the Dark One will necessarily just sit around, waiting for him. We'll see here that they have plans of their own! #Wot #WheelOfTime #fantasy #TheFiresOfHeavenJoin us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWyVJ6qKkSupport u...

Now that Zach is into this series, he's got some context to discuss this with Jim. Of course, Jim is a raving fan, so his answer to the question is going to be "YES, read it!" Right? Well...  WAFO! #DresdenFiles #fantasy Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWyVJ6qKkSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FantasyForTheAges Check out our merch: https://www.newcreationsbyjen...

Zach returns to join his dad for further content from The Fires of Heaven. We're traveling with Rand and company, including a whole mess of Aiel and some questionable characters, rather forsaken, as Rand trains in using the Power and begins to get more in touch with his past. Tension, intrigue, and misdirection are all on display. And let's through in some mixed messages with Aviendha, along with...

Zach is the one leading our most meaningful discussion on this one, as he's read the entire series, whereas Jim is only familiar with it - but enjoyed the movie! Although that alone is a point of contention. #InheritanceCycle #fantasyJoin us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWyVJ6qKkSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FantasyForTheAges Check out our merch: https://www.newcreationsby...

Excited to kick off the next book in The Wheel of Time, Book 5, The Fires of Heaven. Jim went solo on this episode, as Zach came down ill at the last minute. Playing both Jim and Zach roles for this episode was tiring work - good thing Jim had a good drink at his side, as usual. Also, fantastic material to cover - this is going to be another great book! #WoT #TheFiresOfHeaven #FoH #fantasy #wheelo...

While vacationing together, Zach and Jim brought their significant others together for a group conversation to finally explore their experience reading book three of the original Mistborn Trilogy, The Hero of Ages. Did they enjoy it? Heck, did they understand it? Would they consider moving on to Era 2? See what they had to say. #Mistborn #cosmere #fantasy NOTE: There are some audio glitches f...

So much! There is an awe-inspiring level of action and impact in this book, the culmination of everything written before it. Honestly, it's daunting to do a review on this book, but Jim went for it - bringing along friends Spencer and Gabe of The Fantasy Files Podcast. We hit the highlights (and traumatic moments) of this epic battle against all odds. #DresdenFiles #urbanfantasy Enjoy more of...

Introducing a new addition to our channel's content, Tiny Talks, episodes that will cover a wide variety of topics in five minutes or less. This first one comes as a "Book Blast" episode, Jim sharing his thoughts on John Scalzi's The Kaiju Preservation Society. Not quite a book review, just a quick delivery of thoughts - we're pretty sure you'll enjoy! #KaijuPreservationSociety #scifi #KPS Jo...

N. K. Jemisin broke out big time as an author with this intriguing trilogy, loved by many, disliked by others. Best of all, it got people talking - about the content, the writing style, the new angles introduced. Come see what we thought, and hear our take on whether or not you might want to give the trilogy a try. #BrokenEarth #fantasy Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWyVJ6qKkSupport...

And here we are, the big finish, with Rand's storyline (and those with him amongst the Aiel) drawing to a conclusion, for now. Surprises await, shocking revelations, and events that impact the entire rest of the series dramatically. #WoT #TheShadowRising #fantasy #wheeloftime Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWyVJ6qKkSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FantasyForTheAges&nbsp...

For a book with "peace" in the title, our poor old Harry Dresden doesn't find much of it here! In fact, this book brings so many past plots and characters together in a delightful confluence of disaster, it makes for mayhem on a grand new scale - and then it will flow right into Book 17, Battle Ground. Wow. Hope you enjoy my review of this epic book. #DresdenFiles #UrbanFantasyJoin us on Discord:...

Jim read this trilogy on Zach's recommendation; now they get together to discuss whether or not YOU ought to read it. Last episode we closed the book on the Tanchico Incident. This time, it's the Two Rivers, as Perrin's story arc of The Shadow Rising comes to an incredible conclusion. While traveling for work, Jim had the chance to connect in-person with Spencer of The Fantasy Files, someone we've interacted with quite a bit. Jim's guested on Spencer's show, and vice versa. Thought we create some fun, unique content while we got together. And here you go! We had SO MUCH FUN making this episode, and we're confident you'll enjoy our quirky conversation. Before we move into the epic two-book masterpiece that is Peace Talks and Battleground, it's time to step aside and cover all the various short stories that Jim Butcher published in two collections. Mind you, there are more short stories - on his website, in a few other collections - but nearly everything is in these two books. Details are fleshed out and characters are introduced that, by reading...

We're going with another classic fantasy series in this episode, spoiler-lite, discussing why you may or may not want to read the Dragonlance series. Now, there's a lot of these books. We'll heavily focus on the first two trilogies, but we'll lightly comment on the entire series in our thoughts and recommendations. Dare we dis on these beloved books? Would we want to? Experience the episode and fi...

Time to start wrapping up The Shadow Rising. We've got three primary story arcs to conclude, and here we're taking the Tanchico plot to its terrific conclusion. Wow, what a fun, yet tense, and highly informative book of the Dresden Files. We've got a number of former characters from various books coming together to interact with Harry - but in new ways, as this is Harry 2.0, the Winter Knight. Although he may only be version 1.5, as he's still figuring out this Winter Mantle business. And he may not get any further, as the book begins with Harry having ju...

Back to Tanchico, where Elayne and Nynaeve are trying to make progress on their dual mission: Find the item here that is dangerous to Rand, and find the Black Sisters. But this time, they'll find more than they bargained for, some revelations with huge implications. #TheShadowRising #WoT #TheWheelOfTime #wheeloftime #fantasyWe hope you'll Like and Subscribe! Four seasons done, one more to go. This incredible leading original show of Netflix has made the career of some stars, revitalized others, and charmed (and terrified) its fans. Jim is one of those fans, and in this "Just Jim" episode he discusses some key points and highlights of the show so far, and then goes off the deep end to make predictions of how it all wraps up in the final season to come....

He's back, baby! Well, sort of. It's a bit of a process. Being "mostly dead" takes a toll on a person. Harry's recovery, physical therapy, and eventual transformation into next level Sir Harry Dresden makes for quite a tale. And the transformation is both inside and out, and not what all will expect. Come check it out with me! #DresdenFiles #UrbanFantasyJoin us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWyV...

Time to return to the Three-Fold Land, and see who Rand, Mat, and Egwene are faring as they journey along in hopes of rallying the Aiel to Rand's cause. Just because Rand things he's moved fast enough to outguess the Forsaken doesn't mean things are going to be easy, though. Wait until you see what's in store in these chapters! #wheeloftime #WoT #fantasy Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/jMWy...

Harry Dresden died at the end of Changes. How can there be more books in the series? Well, it may help that this title starts with the word "Ghost". And trust me, there's much more to be told in The Dresden Files! Zach and Jim take time to chat about Amazon Prime Video's adaptation of "The Boys," now three seasons in, with a fourth coming.
