Every Number One Ever
Welcome to Every Number One Ever! A revisionist history of pop music and culture from 1952 to now. Over the next three years, friends and DAA stalwarts Matthew Leonard, Craig Lowe, and Liam Maloney are pruning the UK pop charts from day dot to now. Randomly selected number ones will be fired at them and either banished to the bin for all eternity or raised to the hallowed pantheon of pop after discussion, argument and general nonsense. The discarded songs will be expunged from history and in their stead shall be one randomly selected number two single. Will it be Penny Lane, God Only Knows, Je...

Episode 91 - The One Where The Wheels Finally, and Unforgivably, Come Off 05.08.2024 57:42
Well there's one tune in here that is the absolutely perfect for the time of year. And there's a lot of twaddle here too. Liam gets dragged into a dutch wormhole, we land one of the best tracks we've ever had on the show, and Craig goes to the wall to defend his deepest love.
Episode 90 - Ezra's Bot Bot 29.07.2024 1:04:06
Well? Did you notice last week's description? Not many did. Mainly because in my desire to be quirky, it seems that whatever algorithms are in play in podcast-land have absolutely decimated the stats for last week's episode. Ah well. This one features some interesting comments on George's bottom.
Episode 89 - Kevin Parrott 22.07.2024 1:06:59

Episode 88 - Olly's Teeth and Etta's Eyebrows 15.07.2024 1:07:13
Imagine if we just typed up a lorem ipsum text here. Would anyone actually notice? Does anyone actually read these? Have I turned my fingers into mere bloody stumps writing this for it to be summarily ignored by all and sundry?
Episode 87 - Melted Children 08.07.2024 1:01:49
The title for this was originally so horrific we've just had to shorten it to 'melted' but I've changed my mind. You'll have to listen to the episode (I wrote spider then, dunno why) to find out the missing word. You'll also get to hear evidence that Matt is indeed living inside the matrix and that all reality is merely a simulation.
Episode 86 - It's Not Xmas 'Til The Steel Drums Hit! 01.07.2024 1:02:53
Please insert something fun or witty or downright shocking here yourself dear listener. We're over halfway through this project and not only am I out of ideas, but my eyes hurt from looking at our RSS feed for too long... It quite a good episode tho. Just to keep it fresh Liam and Craig clash... again.
Episode 85 - Will Work For Cocaine 24.06.2024 56:50
An episode of arguments, disappointments, broken promises and strange reversals of opinions. We try not to kill each other and provide entertainment at the same time... its a real tightrope sometimes!
Episode 84 - The Nugget Hole 17.06.2024 54:34
Ahhh... listen to that rasping, resonant sound as we scrape the barrel for nine more random number ones from UK history. Some absolute horrors on show this week, but will there be any gold in the mix?
Episode 83 - A Flat Horse 10.06.2024 50:16
Its all the things you hope for in an episode: some big famous tracks, some absolute dross, some forgotten gems, and some spicy opinions. Plus, we open our union jack parachute.
Episode 82 - Move If You Wanna Go Anywhere 03.06.2024 57:37
Listen! Listen to us talk about noise!... YEAH! Now that we've careered past the halfway mark its getting harder and harder to write these things. But I promise you there's some legitimately decent tunes in this week's show.
Episode 81 - The One Where Craig Is Revoltingly Ill 27.05.2024 1:11:58
You will find moments where the quality (not the audio but rather the humans) in this podcast changes drastically. This episode was stitched together from a few records to make Craig seem like he was functional. Its not quite Weekend at Bernies but he's definitely close to death's door.
Episode 80 - Paradise and Folly 20.05.2024 1:07:15
This is a bumper episode this week and all because we get our 718th track in this episode. And yes that is incredibly important. Plus Liam makes a shocking confession.
Episode 79 - A Mother-In-Law at Christmas 13.05.2024 1:01:30
Is it a Les Dawson joke? Probably, but we are nowhere near as funny as that (winks and points). This week we continue our trek through the sonic sludge of the pop charts, on a quest ever onwards towards the goal of a complete and beautiful pantheon. There's one song this week that is guaranteed to start an argument...
Episode 78 - What Business Does B May Have? 06.05.2024 1:05:20
When you're gambling, sometimes things seem like a stretch, other times like a sure thing. This week, we must be onto a sure thing. Surely...? And then Queen's guitarist gets involved in a very strange way indeed.
Episode 77 - Bong Johng Long Bong 29.04.2024 55:02
You might need to take a few minutes to collect your thoughts after this show. This one is a big one - all kinds of nonsense ensues, and we manage to rattle through it (thanks to a heavy edit) in under an hour! "Whirlwind" is an understatement.
Episode 76 - Double Coventry 22.04.2024 54:41
Will we finally get one of our list songs this week? (Hint: absolutely!). We also learn some weird facts about how Fast Car was nearly a number one for someone else, and we toss around the idea of a unanimous episode!
Episode 75 - The Spy Who Spagged Me & STAT ATTACK! 15.04.2024 1:12:38
Its episode 75! As we quickly approach the half way point we're figuring out who has taken the crown of 'Binmaster General' and who the most contrarian of us is (as if we have to ask). And a normal episode to boot!
Episode 74 - Flat Earth Robert 08.04.2024 1:04:21
Nurse! He's out of bed again! Who rattled Liam's cage? He's clearly on one this episode. Pay him no heed. Although he may have a point about song 5.
Episode 73 - The Greek Of It All 01.04.2024 58:55
As friends and podcasters we have known each other for many many moons. It is rare, although as this episode proves entirely possible, that we still surprise each other. Today is a surprise of coronary-inducing proportions. I hope you're sitting down.
Episode 72 - Ultravox's Viennetta 25.03.2024 52:34
Another week, another three... Clearly I'm trying to be blasé there. This week we get a list song, complete the hat-trick and find something from that dreaded era we all think is actually good!
Episode 71 - The F*ck Stop 18.03.2024 56:48
There are certain things in musical history that are buried, and like that dreadful long dead relative, should stay buried. Unfortunately, here at ENOE towers we are tripping over exhumed musical cadavers almost daily. This week is no exception. No one needed to hear that long sing did they? In all honesty, I can't remember enjoying a episode as much as I enjoyed this one.
Episode 70 - ENOE Life 11.03.2024 56:57
Episode 70 and the bin is hungry for a new sacrifice. Will a 00s popstress be sacrificed to its voracious maw? Or will a host of dead rabbits save her? (this will make sense once you've heard the episode)
Episode 69 - A Fistful of Loggins 04.03.2024 1:02:52
This is what this shows about. We cover over 40 years in a single episode with some absolute monster hits, some underrated gems, and some absolutely forgotten (and perhaps with good reason) moments of yesteryear. As always... will we make the right calls? You decide.
Episode 68 - Under Milky Wood 26.02.2024 52:59
We have a new level of disgusting with this weeks episode title. Well done to us. Will we reach such heights of greatness when it comes to this week's tunes? My notes for this just say 'pow pow'... hmmmm...
Episode 67 - The One Where Liam Meets A Sad Horse 19.02.2024 53:02
Yes its another episode of the show. Its episode 67 you know how it works now. BUT if you're curious about the strange horse related introduction: Liam lives in the country and saw a tiny pony in a place it wasn't supposed to be. He has been named Señor Henry Clopz (the pony, not Liam). He reappears intermittently. He thinks its an issue with 'fly grazing' rather than abandonment. Now, go about yo...
