From the opening verse, Mark has been defending Jesus as the son of God. In this passage, we see the first person to publicly declare that to be true, and it's the last person you'd expect.

For 2,000 years people have been mocking the person of Jesus. But how should we live when others mock our faith? And why do people mock Jesus in the first place? The answer to that question lies in the identity of Jesus as King.

What does it mean to deny Jesus? While Peter denies Jesus by what he does say, many of us deny Jesus by what we don't say. But despite Peter's denial of Jesus, Jesus never denied Peter.
