Dead Ends

We wrap up Katy Keene and find it mostly enjoyable, with some unfortunately missed opportunities. We discuss Katy’s romance with Guy, Pepper’s arrest, Josie’s unsatisfying plot, the Cabot’s being the worst, people giving Jorge bad advice about his familial problems, antagonists suddenly being nice, Jorge’s relationship drama, and all the celebrity cameos. We’ll be back in two weeks with Riverdale...

We’re happy to report we’re having a pretty good time with the show! Everyone’s lives gets way messier and the show is better for it. We discuss Katy’s romantics options, the introduction of Luke Cook, Josie struggling against Alex, Sierra paying a visit, Peppers mysterious upbringing, and Jorge’s struggle with homophobia within his family and in public. We also discuss Annie, Girls, Buffy the Vam...

Unfortunately a few episodes in were not super into the show. We discuss everything feeling superficial, Katy’s indecisiveness, Jorge passing on good opportunities, our differing opinions on Josie and Pepper, and why KO is mistreated. We’ll do 5 episodes next week, episodes 4-8. We also discuss Pretty Little Liars, A Court of Thorns and Roses, 9-1-1 (the show and spinoffs),  Episode 69 content war...

Welcome to New York City, where dreams are made! We watched the pilot of Katy Keene and found it to be an enjoyable, if relatively shallow good time. We discuss the sugary tone, its relation to rom coms, fashion brands and punny names, evil and jealous women, the glamorization of chasing your dreams, Katy as the pure embodiment of good, Josie’s My Fair Lady plot, and Jorge’s struggle with homophob...

We wrap up the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina! Unfortunately it ends on something of a flat note. We discuss the show being canceled, the episode having to serve as a finale, the all over the place plotting, Wardwell’s mismatched narration, the difference between the void and space (?), and Sabrina and Nick’s conclusion. We also revisit our time with PLL and try to remember crucial plot details. W...

It’s the crossover episode every Millennial has been waiting for! We discuss bringing in the aunties from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, our memories of the sitcom, the many crossover episodes and the shows depiction of sitcoms as a never ending hell.    Other topics include Sharp Objects, Hollywood Squares, Alan Wake 2, Kafka’s Metamorphosis, and the Prisoner.  Episode 66 content warnings: lovecraft,...

The dead return for an exciting week in Greendale! We discuss the return of Lazarus, the Battle of the Bands, the great names of Satanic Panic, Papa Kinkle’s tragic backstory, Lucifer’s great outfits, Marie’s true identity, how terrible fathers are, the Weird Sisters reuniting, and Sabrina’s identity stuck between two families. Plus you get lots of Catholic talk again! We also discuss So You Think...

The universal toll has come for the two Sabrinas. How do we spend our last episode with them? By discussing baking gluten free bread and our adventures at the Peddlers fair! And also talking about the episode of course. We discuss Metatron being right, the two Sabrinas being both different people and the same, Nick groveling (positive), the Morningstars coming to town, Lilith taking L’s, and Ambro...

We have another great episode this week! Greendale turns to fascism and we find out who truly is a good person. We discuss Sabrina and Nick reuniting, Carl being an unlikely hero, Harvey’s turn in the Blackwood youth, Zelda semi remembering Sabrina, and whatever is going on with Lilith. We also talk about the Venture Bros, Review, Criminal Minds, Bones, Billy on the Street, the Eric Andre show, an...

We made it back to the podcasting mics this week! Life is still chaos, but hopefully things start to ease up a little. We did get over into San Francisco and talk about that up top. On Sabrina this week, we get the best episode of Part 4 as the weird comes to town. We discuss the variety of red herrings, retconning Roz, Lilith’s escape to the coven, Lucas not getting mind controlled, and wonder ab...

We’re coming to you from the sweat lodge as our AC is unfortunately still broken; seems apropos as we get a glimpse back into Hell. We discuss the mean treatment of the Uninvited, Sabrina crashing out at Hilda’s wedding, Nick and Prudences (fake?) relationship, and once again pine for a better villain. Episode 61 content warnings: lovecraft, racism, witchcraft, hell, satan, religion Our amazing co...

We discuss Sabrina finding herself at a cross roads, her relationship with her mortal friends, the Eldritch Terrors, Blackwoods tent revival, and the disappearance of Lucifer. Episode 60 content warnings: witchcraft, hell, satan, religion, tent revivals Our amazing cover art is by Senki R and you can follo...

It’s the Part 3 finale! We have a discussion on time loop and time travel in fiction including Back to the future, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Marvel movies, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Time Crimes, Looper, and X-men Days of Future Past. We also talk about the episode including everyone forgetting about Blackwood, the time paradox Sabrina caused, the show retrofitting Sabrina...

Everyone gets put into peril but in a way that leaves us scratching our heads. We discuss 90% of the characters dying, Lucifer always taking losses, Dorcas getting short shrift, and the comic book escalation. We also dig into Nick’s change of heart, Caliban’s betrayal, how cool Prudence is, and how useless Edward Spellman is.  Episode 58 content warnings: Catholicism, witchcraft, hell, satan, reli...

Things are really getting bad for our favorite witches, but amidst all the chaos we make time for some classic love triangles. We discuss Caliban endearing himself, Sabrina finally snapping at Nick, Harvey’s jumbled up feelings, our love of Dr C and Hilda (spider changing and all), and Ms Wardwell being really easily fooled. Episode 57 content warnings: Catholicism, witchcraft, hell, satan, religi...

It’s an exciting week for us former Catholics as Sabrina is challenge to steal from Pontious Pilate’s bowl. We run through Easter traditions, the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, and the call response portions of Good Friday mass. We also discuss Nick detoxing and Satan’s residue, Satan getting revenge on the coven, Hilda’s transformation body horror, Robin being a good boy, and Harvey taking a pick a...

Nick continues to have a horrible, really bad time on an uneven episode of Sabrina. We like the care that the episode shows to Nick for his self destructive behaviors and the way he lashes out at Sabrina. This is still an Archieverse show though, so random character arcs are dropped for no reason (looking at Harvey). We also discuss Pagans vs Christians and celebrate Ostara!  Our amazing cover art...

We’re at a real high point in the series right now. We discuss having a great time with everyone having a bad time trying to figure out their emotional trauma. Sabrina wants to help Nick, Nick can’t communicate how much he’s hurting, Harvey is worried about not being man enough, and Hilda just wants to write her smut novels in peace. There’s also fun diversions in a quest for holy relics and an ev...

We’re back with Sabrina and it’s time to rescue her boyfriend from hell! We discuss the inconsistent Wizard of Oz metaphor, Hilda and Zelda taking over the coven, Prudence and Ambrose’s hot spy mission, and all the references they packed into this episode. We also open the episode with our excitement for the NASA Artemis II space mission! Our amazing cover art is by Senki R and you can follow them...

We come to the end of our time at Riverdale High with an unfortunately bad couple of episodes. We talk about the characters not acting like themselves, the confusing way they write off FP, Archie being very unlikable, Hermosa getting her time to shine, infantilizing Jellybean, and the gross military propaganda. Next week we’ll head back over to Sabrina with the first episode of part 3! Our amazing...

We’re heading toward the end of our time at Riverdale high with the end of season 4 and the beginning of season 5. We discuss Jughead’s “fictional” writing and how he views everyone, Mr. Honey’s over the top behavior, KO Kelly’s visit, Archie coming clean to Veronica, Toni’s inconsistent writing, and continue to wonder how big the town of Riverdale is. We also talk about Holes,  High School Musica...

It’s the Hedwig episode! While we liked the music, we think the plot line fell a bit flat. We discuss how the episode only provides vague descriptions of the musical, the great drag costuming, and Betty and Archie being the center of the plot. We also talk about the reference heavy Lynch episode, Ethel once again being dragged through the mud, and getting to actually see Hiram be evil. Our amazing...

Jughead lives! And we get to the bottom of all the Stone Wall mysteries. We untangle Bughead’s complicated plot to trick the preppies, when different people were brought in, Jonathon getting murdered, and the big misses with Donna’s character. We also cover Archie and Betty pretending to date, Forsythe’s reason for leaving, Mr Dupont’s murder, and Jughead’s incorrect definition of a locked-room my...

We have unfortunate news, Forsythe Pendleton Jones III has passed. Or has he? We talk about the big moment and the new Cold War between our protagonists and the preppies. We also discuss no holds barred Betty, Veronica being stuck in the same conflicts with her dad, Archie doing too much, and Mary’s questionable parenting decisions. We also cover Mean Girls, Anastasia and what type of actors we’d...
