Sometimes we have the tendency to over complicate the commandments. Alma teaches us here that the commandments are plain and simple, he also teaches us that the testimony gained from a vision or a miracle doesn't outshine the testimony that comes from fasting, prayer and the Holy Ghost.

The voice of the Good Shepherd calls to each of us, how can we learn to hear Him better?

Today we sit down for a personal priesthood interview with Alma!

In these verses Alma gives us the recipe for salvation, and we talk about what it means to have Christ's image in our countenances.

Today Alma reminds us that the Savior doesn't just save us by His grace, He changes us with it as well!

Alma gave up his seat as chief judge and gave himself wholly to the work of salvation. He went all in! What are we giving ourselves wholly to?

The Book of Mormon warns us against costly apparel so many times I am starting to worry every time I buy new clothes! Not really, but does God really hate money? Sometimes it sounds that way in the scriptures. Today we are going to talk about how Heavenly Father feels about money, and how we can make sure that money doesn't make us fall into the sin of pride.   

The Amlicites marked themselves with red on their foreheads. Now I know that they are the bad guys, but I think we can learn a lot about marking ourselves distinct and different from the world by the way we are. 

Alma accuses Nahor of Priestcraft, and of setting himself up as a light. As teachers and parents and in our callings we must make an effort not to be like Nahor, we have to always strive to point others to Christ and then get out of the way of His glorious message. 

Gideon, that amazing, rock-solid disciple of Jesus Christ shows us what it means to be a defender of truth.

Nehor the Anti-Christ taught the people all sorts of half truths, and he was effective because it is so much easier to believe a half truth than a bold faced lie! This is the same strategy that satan uses in our day. He flatters and spreads half truths trying to lull us into carnal security. 

What does the establishment of the judges teach us about our own judgement? And what can we learn about what God expects us to demand from our leaders? King Mosiah has the answers!

It's not our mistakes that define who we are, it's what we choose to do after. The sons of Mosiah picked themselves up and became the reatest missionaries of the Book of Mormon! And all of that came because of the love of Christ!

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ do we believe in being born again? And really what does that mean? Today we talk about the Lord's commandment to be born again and how we can do it. 

Today we talk about the rebellion of Alma the Younger and the prayers that his father and people offered up which were the catalyst for His redemption. 

Have you ever come up against something and not known how to move forward? I think we all have to some degree. In this chapter Alma is going to show us a pattern that we can follow to move forward with faith.

Mosiah 26 starts out by talking about the rising generation and how they didn't have the same conversion as their parents, because they were just little during the time of King Benjamin's sermon. It made me think. It is not enough to think that our children will be converted because we are. We must do all we can to help them have opportunities where the Spirit can sink deep within their hearts, so...

The scriptures are replete with stories of deliverance, if fact, that is one of the 3 purposes of the Book of Mormon! But Alma asks us to remember that the power isn't in the miracle, it is in the great Deliverer. 

When the people of Zarahemla learn about how the Lord blessed and delivered Alma and his people they praised God and were in awe of His power and His immediate goodness. When have you seen the immediate goodness of God in your life? 

The Lord tells the people of Alma that he will "strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens.: Notice he didn't say, " strengthen them so they could bear up their OWN burdens." They people just years before had made a covenant to bear one another's burdens and I believe that when things got hard they did just that!

Chapter 23 epitomizes the classic question, why do bad things happen to good people. Today we will talk about why Heavenly Father chastens his children...the answer might surprise you.

This chapter says that the Lord was slow to hear the prayers of the people. Have you ever felt that way? Today we will talk about what to do and learn when it feels like the answer to our prayers is no.

Temperance is a Christ-like attribute that is used in the scriptures several times...but isn't talked about a lot. Today we will look at how a little temperance could have saved a lot of lives!

I love thinking about the unsung heroes of the scriptures. One of those, in my opinion, is Gideon. We don't know a ton about him except that he was a leader in Noah's army and he had courage in his convictions that what Noah was doing was wrong. There is a lot we can learn from him about how to stay strong in our beliefs even if it feels like we are standing alone.

As we become the Lord's covenant people who should we love? How should we set up our wards and families? We will talk about it today!
