Oct 7- Elder Bednar 07.10.2020

I LOVED Elder Bednar's talk so much! But I especially loved the part where he quoted Elder Holland about the lack of a middle ground. It is so true! I have seen it so clearly over the last few years. So what do we do? How do we stay rooted firmly on the Lord's side? And how do we go "all in?"

Oct 6- Elder Renlund 06.10.2020

In Elder Renlund's talk on Mercy he said, "Loving mercy means that we do not just love the mercy God extends to us, we delight that God extends that same mercy to others." As I was pondering this talk and this quote I kept thinking of the lyrics from the hymn "How Great the Wisdom and the Love" where it says that the plan of God is where, "justice, love and mercy meet." As I was thinking about tha...

Oct 5- Becoming Like Him 05.10.2020

I really loved Elder Whiting's talk Becoming like Him. His story about having a priesthood leader point out a Christ-like attribute he needed to work on and then having his wife confirm that hard to hear truth, reminded me of the rich man who was vulnerable enough to ask the Savior, "what lack I yet?" It takes courage to ask that question, and even more courage to make the changes and rely on the...

Oct 4th- General Conference 04.10.2020

HAPPY GENERAL CONFERENCE EVERYONE!!!!! Such a great conference yesterday. I felt hit over the head with the theme of being prepared, so today we will talk a little bit more about all the talks that pointed us toward being prepared for the future, and how we can better do it!

Oct 3- 3rd Nephi 19:17-24 03.10.2020

Maybe it is because I am seeing so many of my imperfections under a magnifying glass right now, but what really stood out to me in these verses today is how much the Savior and our loving Father in Heaven want to bless us amid our imperfections. As the Lord prayed for His disciples He didn't say, "Bless them because of their perfections." He said, "Bless them because of their faith." There are som...

Oct 2- 3rd Nephi 19:3-9 02.10.2020

After the Savior left, the people prayed for the thing they wanted more than anything else, the gift of the Holy Ghost. They had experienced what it felt like to be in the presence of a member of the Godhead, and when the Savior was no longer there, I think they could feel that void. So they wanted the Holy Ghost, and they wanted it more than anything else. You and I have the gift to be able to ha...

Oct 1- 3rd Nephi 18:15-20 01.10.2020

In these verses the Savior teaches us about the power of prayer. As we make prayer more meaningful, as we treat it like a 2 way conversation instead of like ordering from a menu, then Heavenly Father can teach us about all the blessings he wants to give us, if only we would ask.

Sept 30- 3rd Nephi 18:7-11 30.09.2020

The act of remembering is an active, intentional thing. If we are not intentional in our remembering we will unintentionally forget. The Savior commands us to always remember Him. This is not an ego driven demand. This is an invitation to come to Him and to be filled with the peace and love that only He can offer.

Sept 29- 3rd Nephi 7-9 29.09.2020

I think sometimes I limit what I am willing to let the Savior do for me in my life. I try to fix or solve or heal things on my own and only reach out when I have exhausted other options. Why do I do that? Here in these verses the Savior invites ALL with ANY affliction to be brought to Him. He doesn't say, "only these types of struggles," or "your affliction has to be this bad for me to intervene."...

Sept 28- 3rd Nephi 17:4-6 28.09.2020

Yesterday in Relief Society, the teacher asked, "What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?" I thought about that question all day yesterday, and then, as I was re-reading these verses it hit me. This! This is what it means to me to be a disciple of Christ. He sets a perfect example for us to follow here in these 3 verses!

Sept 27- 3rd Nephi 17:1-3 27.09.2020

Despite the joy the people felt from the Savior's visit, despite their love for Him and their enthusiasm to learn from Him, they still didn't fully understand His teachings. We have all been there when we don't quite totally understand a doctrine, a scripture, something spoken by one of the brethren, or a policy. The Savior doesn't condemn the people for their lack of understanding. Instead, He in...

Sept 26- 3rd Nephi 15:21-24 26.09.2020

We often speak about the Savior manifesting Himself to His "other sheep." But Abinadi taught that Christ would manifest Himself unto all His seed. Qualifying ourselves as being counted among His seed can qualify us for the blessing of coming to know Christ in a very real, very personal way.

Sept 25- 3rd Nephi 14:14 & 15:1 25.09.2020

"Whoso remembereth these sayings of mine and DOETH them, him will I raise up at the last day."  Do what you do with ALL your heart, well done is always better than well said.

Sept 24- 3rd Nephi 14:1-3 24.09.2020

The Savior teaches with powerful imagery here in these verses when he talks about the mote and the beam. Because a mote is a tiny sliver and a beam is a log,  the Savior is teaching us that the only thing that matters about the size of a sin is it's proximity to us. As we do our best to repent and draw closer to Christ, we will also be able to approach our fellow man with greater love and com...

Sept 23- 3rd Nephi 13:24 23.09.2020

The Savior teaches us that there comes a point where we have to decide whose team we are on, but that is not a choice that we make only once. Every single day we make a million little choices that determine who we are going to serve. We will never be perfect, at least not in this life, but everyday we can be a little better as we rely on the grace of Christ to strengthen us.

Sept 22- 3rd Nephi 13:14-15 &22 22.09.2020

I absolutely love the idea that if our eye is single to God then our whole bodies are filled with light. Our eyes are so small and often times overlooked, however, they are so powerful to our minds. If everyday we can conscientiously focus our minds on the Savior and His gospel, then we can partake of His glorious light.

Sept 21- 3rd Nephi 12:14-16 & 44 21.09.2020

Today we will take a look at the charge that the Savior gives us to be a light. As you and I are obedient to our covenants and repentant we will naturally shine bright in an ever increasingly dark world.

Sept 20-3rd Nephi 12 20.09.2020

Here in 3rd Nephi 12, the Savior is teaching us how to become more like Him. The "Beatitudes" are like a stairway. Starting at the bottom as a broken and fallen person we change piece by piece and attribute by attribute until we are more like the Savior. Christ finishes this chapter by then commanding us to be perfect! I know, daunting right? But as we come to understand more fully what that word...

Sept 19- 3rd Nephi 11:21&29 19.09.2020

This chapter tells me so much about the priorities of the Lord. The 1st thing He did with the people at Bountiful was to invite them to have a personal experience with Him. The very second thing He did was to reestablish covenants so that we could obtain the promised blessings of God. Everything that the Savior does revolves around loving, teaching and saving US!

Sept 18- 3rd Nephi 11:14-15 18.09.2020

I feel like very few things in this life matter more than understanding how much the Savior wants to have an individual relationship with us. The atonement of Jesus Christ wasn't a sacrifice made for the masses, it was a sacrifice done individually for each of us as individuals. Jesus Christ invites us, individually, to come to Him, and invites us, individually, to know Him.

Sept 17- 3rd Nephi 11:7-11 17.09.2020

Very few times in the history of all mankind does God the Father speak directly to His children on Earth, but almost all of those times He does so to invite His children to hear Jesus Christ. Have you ever thought about why? Why invite us to hear Christ rather than just deliver the message himself? Today we will talk about some reasons why that might be, as well as look at what this chapter reinfo...

Sept 16- 3rd Nephi 11:1-3 16.09.2020

We speak so often about the 2,500 who were at the temple in Bountiful to greet the Savior. What it must have been like for them, but have you ever wondered about all the people who weren't there that day, and how devastating it would have been to realize the closeness they could have experienced with the Savior if only they had made the effort that day to be there? In our lives we have opportuniti...

Sept 15- 3rd Nephi 9:17-20 15.09.2020

The Savior asks that we offer to Him our broken hearts and contrite spirits. But what does that mean? What does He want from us, and how can we turn it all over to Him?

Sept 14- 3rd Nephi 9:13-15 14.09.2020

Jesus Christ wants nothing more than for us to turn to Him so that He can heal us. Just has he caused the deaf to hear, the blind to see and rose the dead to life, He can heal our spiritual blindness and let us see His love, He can help us hear His word, and He can raise us to life eternal.

Sept 13- 3rd Nephi 9:2 13.09.2020

This verse talks about the joy that the adversary feels as he is successful in luring us away from the path of Christ. But the truth is, you and I have everything we need to overcome the temptations of the adversary, and as we rely on the grace of Christ, we will be victorious.
