Come Follow Me- Daily Dose

In these verses Mormon speaks of things to come as if they are a guarantee. He has so much faith hope and assurance in the Lord's word that there is zero doubt of what will be. Mormon has that kind of confidence because he has had experiences with the Lord. What experiences have you had that make you confident in God's promises?  

What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and how can we pay the price of discipleship? 

To prepare for battle the converted Lamanites and Nephites gathered everything together and were prepared temporally, and it sustained them and that was important. But what they did SPIRITUALLY is what ultimately SAVED them.  

The Laminites and the Nephites joined together for physical safety and survival, but the Lord also commands us in our day to be one. Our unity and our oneness is just as vital to our spiritual survival as the Nephites and Laminites unity was to their physical survival.

Heavenly Father is actively involved in our lives. We each experience miracles and tender mercies, but as it says in this chapter, Satan is anxious to lie to us about those experiences, so that our hearts will be hardened and we will see them as coincidences rather than miracles. As we recognize the miracles and show our Father in Heaven that we see them and value them our conversion becomes cemen...

In the mist of Nephi's biggest trial the Lord's response was to "Be of good cheer." This wasn't a trite, "Keep your chin up pal," It was the knowledge that in, and through and because of Christ, we can find joy and hope even in the hard things.

Have you ever wondered why the process of receiving revelation wasn't quicker or easier??? Take comfort my friends, it wasn't easy for most of the Book of Mormon prophets either. But while receiving revelation can require work on our part, it is one of the greatest gifts of God to His children. 

Samuel talked until he was blue in the face about the signs and wonders that would proceed Christ's birth, but even still only "most believing part of them" were paying attention and believed. We must learn from this chapter to be vigilant in watching for the signs of Christ's coming and diligent in hearing and heeding God's word.

Helaman first commands the Nephites to repent, THEN he exhorts them to obey. Is there a reason for that order? I think so! Today we will talk about the importance of a true change of heart as we seek to repent and come closer to Christ. 

Samuel tells the Nephites that a call to repentance is pretty much just a love letter from the Lord. How can we learn to see it that way? It's all about our humility. 

Samuel is still calling the Nephites to repentance, begging them to remember their heritage of faith. He tells them that in the end, whatever happens to them will happen because of their own agency and choice.

Samuel testifies to the wicked Nephites about the power of redemption that comes in and through Jesus Christ and his atonement.

Jesus Christ is the Light and Life of this world, so it is so incredibly fitting that the sign of his birth was light and the sign of his death was darkness. 

I love the example that Samuel the Lamanite gives us here of diligence! He was thrown out of a city and even thought the people wouldn't let him come back in he didn't give up and found a new way to accomplish the Lord's will.

We don't hear much about Nephi's brother Lehi after chapter 5, but there is one small verse in chapter 11 that tells us everything we need to know about him. And it teaches us something important about how we serve in the church.

Here in Helaman 11 we see a really neat type and shadow of Jesus Christ which helps us understand one of His roles in our lives.

Today we talk about the blessing God gave to Nephi because of the 100% confidence and trust that He had in him. 

In the stillness the Lord is able to speak to Nephi, and He gives him a blessing that I believe is a blessing that He can, and wants to give each one of us.

When Nephi prophesied of the murder of the chief judge the wicked didn't believe him. For them it was easier to make up a complicated lie than to believe and easy truth. But 5 men believed and were converted today we will talk about why.

Nephi knew of the evils of his people because God told him though the Spirit. We to ca be warned of the evils around us as we heed the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Also, Nephi testifies that all the prophets have testified of Christ. Today we will listen to some of the powerful testimonies of modern-day prophets about Christ. 

President Benson taught that if we want to know what life will be like before the 2nd coming of Christ, that we could look to the Book of Mormon and see what it was like before the 1st coming of Christ. In these chapters as the righteous get better and the wicked get worse, I can totally see that that is true. Today we will discuss it, along with one thing that people did throughout the scriptures...

As Nephi and Lehi go out to preach the are confronted by an angry mob of Laminites. God sent fire, and earthquakes, and darkness, but none of those things changed their hearts. The change came for the Laminites when they heard God's message of peace and love. 

IN and FROM, 2 tiny words that totally change the way we see and use the atonement. Today, we discuss agency and the atonement. 

In Helaman 5 the word remember is used 15 times. How can we remember? And how can building our lives on Christ help us in times when we need it most?

Helaman teaches his sons that all good things come because of Jesus Christ, and all good things that we do, draw us nearer to Him so that we can become more like Him.
