Capt. Marty's Outer Banks Fishing Report & Stories

In another Christmas story, Capt. Marty decides he's going to get his daughters a horse for Christmas. He was very excited to do it for them, but they were MORE excited to give him his gift. What they got him wasn't exactly what he expected to get!!

There are many of Santa's helpers out there assisting the big man with Christmas each year, however this specific year the Captain's daughters got a visit from an imposter Santa!! Who was the imposter Santa??? Listen and laugh!! 

My goodness is it COLD and WINDY! This hasn't played much into our favor but there are still fish to be caught! Don't forget tomorrow morning a new story is coming out on my channel. I'm calling it "Bad Santa, Part 1". It's quite comical and, again, it comes out tomorrow morning at 7am. 

The wind and the cold hasn't helped us out too much on the offshore side of things but the surf is still doing ok and the sounds are pretty good too!! A gold start catch happened in the sound actually! I got a pretty funny joke at the end of my report that you won't want to miss and more in this midweek report!

I hope yall had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday! I got your fishing report (and hunting report) from the end of last week and through the weekend. We wrapped up November fairly well and December isn't looking too shabby either!

We've made it through Thanksgiving and now we are full steam ahead into Christmas!! Capt. Marty is going to tell us a story about how he, Mike Merritt, John Bayliss and Jeff Hathaway obtained their Christmas trees while out deer hunting one year. Trust me... it isn't the typical way you'd expect!!

Still pretty solid fishing going on all over as we creep closer to December on Thanksgiving Eve. Don't forget to pick up oysters to go with your turkey this thanksgiving!! Lots of places have them and are ready to get you all hooked up!  I hope you have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for each of you that tune in to my reports each day. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, Capt. Marty tells us a story about how one year he decided to butcher his own turkeys for Thanksgiving. His mother, having had done something similar to this in her past, tried to coach him through how to properly execute the plan. Well... we'll just let the captain tell you how it all turned out!

Got a tad breezy again over the last few days so the offshore boats didn't quite make it out but I'll go over what they've been catching and let you know what's been going on in the surf, off the piers and back in the sounds. The wind FINALLY laid down and boat fishing was able to resume. Got your offshore and near shore report as well as in the sounds, BUT I HAVE BREAKING NEWS IN THE SURF!!!! Justin and my ol' pal Deckhand Don will like what I have to say for sure!

A tad slow offshore but the surf made up for it! Western sounds still having quite a bit of action too! Gonna talk all about this plus how the local black bear hunting is going so far.  Side note: Remember yall, it's always good to file a float plan before you go fishing out in a boat. It's still BLOWWWWWING out there! Not a whole lot to report on due to the weather but I do have an idea of something fun for you to do with the whole family!

Fishing was pretty daggum good over the weekend! Lots to talk about along with the results of the Hatteras Anglers Club Invitational Tournament. Bear season and duck season are in as well so I will touch on some of that in this report too!

Just about every Captain and/or mate in the fleet has a nickname of sort. Capt. Marty tells us about Dave Radke aka 'Fogbank' and how he got his nickname while down in Hatteras during a tournament.

Bye-bye, Deckhand Don!! The captain is back from his hunting vacation!! He found his way out of the woods of Montana and back to Hyde County and has got a phenomenal fishing report for you!!  For the rest of the year and up to April of next year, the captain's fishing reports will be every other day - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Keep that in mind!

In this story Capt. Marty talks about a deer hunting trip his buddy Capt. Dave Radke took out around Edenton, NC and what happened when he left his stand to go get a breakfast biscuit. What happens in the drive thru is interesting to say the least!
