Capt. Marty's Outer Banks Fishing Report & Stories

Kinda scrappy yesterday in a few different ways, ultimately depended on what you were looking for but the billfish fishing offshore was pretty good! I will talk more about that along with the back country report AND what's been happening at the 22nd Annual Dare County Boatbuilders Foundation Tournament at Pirates Cove!

Wrapping up day one with the unofficial standings and some more info about how you can participate in the festivities surrounding the tournament!

While the captain is weighing fishing, Justin will bring you up to speed with all that is taking place out here at Pirate’s Cove for the 22nd Annual Dare County Boatbuilders Tournament. 

The wind made things a little slower all the way around yesterday but today is a new day! It's the first fishing day of the 22nd Annual Dare County Boatbuilders Foundation Tournament at Pirate's Cove and I'm very excited! Wind shifted yesterday but that wasn't a bad thing! It just changed the game ever so slightly. Captains had to readjust their approaches a tad. I'll tell you more about what was caught and where offshore, nearshore and in the back country.  Today is registration day for the Boatbuilders Tournament out of Pirates Cove. I am the weighmaster for the tournament and I will be out there daily...

Kind of a scrappier day yesterday than the days before but catches were actually good regardless. Folks just had to work a little harder for it! I'll get you up to speed with all of what was caught in this report.

Back during his days on the Reelin' with mate Mike Pullin, Capt. Marty had the pleasure of taking some college football players from Ohio State University offshore to have some fun. All of a sudden they get hooked up to what they thought was a big blue marlin... but it wasn't!! This story is one you don't want to miss!!

Wrapping up the week with a pretty decent bite in most areas. Nothing super spectacular but it's definitely not slow either! I'll get you up to speed with what's going on. 

I apologize for not having a report up yesterday. I was under the weather and it was a rough day, on my birthday of all days too!!  But I'm back and the fishing hasn't been too different over the last few days, however there are a few changes and I'll tell you all about them in this report.

The lightening squalls over Roanoke Island were intense yesterday, but the fish seemed to like it!! Got your fishing report all ready to go as well as an outlook for the weekend! Still a tad breezy but boats made it offshore yesterday so that's good, and their catches were good as well! Gonna talk about that and the inshore, pier, surf and back country round up as well!

Still a bit breezy across the region so that kept things a tad slow offshore but other spots had some pretty good action, plus a species that I don't get to talk about too often has shown up a few different places!! I'll talk to you more about that plus the upcoming Boatbuilders Tournament at Pirate's Cove July 24th thru the 27th!

I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend! Fishing was pretty good all over! Blew a little bit yesterday but Friday and Saturday made up for it. Gonna get you  up to speed with that and also talk a little bit about the next big tournament coming up at Pirate's Cove in Manteo.

Offshore was a bit breezy so not a lot of action there but there was action on the piers, in the surf, around the inlet and in the sounds (all while dodging the rain)! Finally back home after a great week at the Hatteras Marlin Club. I'll give you the final standings from that tournament last week (man, what a great time it was to be there) and also give you a recap of the fishing from the weekend.
