One of our more historic sites on the Cape. The tracks, the engines, the seating are all part of an interesting history of the Cape. The railroad has ben here since 1848 but used for freight for the Sandwich Glass Company. By 1887 14 of the 15 towns on the Cape had rail service. I forgot to mention the Cape Cdder which runs from Boston's Back Bay to Hyannis during the summer.

A fisherman and well known rum runner, Manuel Zora had many different occupations, Eugene O'Neil wrote him as one of his characters in his trilogy of plays, Mourning Becomes Electra.. Zora starred in several plays by the Wharf Players and posed for portraits for local artists. His best known role was evading the United States Coast Guard while rum-running. Stay tuned...

In 1922 the Massachusetts National Guard came to Barnstable for their summer camp training at Camp Perkins. With two regiments came 400 horses with 600 National Guardsmen. They used Sandy Neck for target practice with live ammo and visited downtown Osterville for their free time. Were the residents upset? Stay tuned.
