In a world that does not value marriage, it is important for Christians to ask what the Bible says about divorce and the permanence of marriage.  Once again, Pastor Dave encourages us to be faithful to our spouse.

Yesterday, we celebrated the gift of fatherhood. But the truth is, to be a good father, you must first be a good husband. Sadly, our culture doesn't value marriage or fidelity. 1 Corinthians 7 teaches us why we must be faithful to our spouse. 

We live in a sex-crazed culture. Society has no concern for biblical morality. However, this isn't a new problem. The church in Corinth faced the same issues. In 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, Paul informs us what it means to hold to a biblical sexual ethic. 

"What's wrong with that?" Although this is a common question, it's insufficient for a Christian to make good decisions. In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul teaches us an important principle- just because you can doesn't mean you should. 

Because of sin in the church, we face conflict. However, church members should be able to resolve trivial disputes for the sake of the Gospel. In 1 Corinthians 6, we learn why we shouldn't take fellow believers to court. 

No church is perfect. Sin is still a common part of our lives. So how should we deal with sin in the church? In 1 Corinthians 5, we learn about the proper response to sin. Listen to part 2 of this series:

How should we deal with sin in the church? Many Christians fail to understand what Scripture has to say about this topic. In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul tells the church what the right response to sin looks like. 

The mature church follows its God-given biblical authority. We examine what that looks like and how to respond when the spiritual authority is not following Christ. 

What is faithfulness? What should we be faithful to? These questions are essential if we want to be successful in ministry. 1 Corinthians 4:6-14 gives three keys to faithfulness for our lives and ministries. 

What is the measure of success in the church? Is it numbers, conversions, or programs? Or is success something different? According to 1 Corinthians 4:1-5, faithfulness is the measure of success in ministry.

How can the church grow in spiritual maturity? 1 Corinthians 3 answers this vital question. In part 3 of this series, we learn to become mature in Christ- we need godly wisdom.

"It's time to grow up." Does this sound familiar? We've all probably heard this phrase before. In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul effectively tells the Corinthian church to grow up. The church needs to become mature in Christ. 

Today, our lives are swamped with an excess of information. The question is, who can you trust? How do you know who is wise? In 1 Corinthians 2:6-16, Paul gives us three ways to discover godly wisdom. 

What matters when the church gathers to worship God? 1 Corinthians has taught us that the church and the Gospel are not about us. So, our worship should be all about Christ and His Gospel. The church must point to Christ. 

Sometimes, Christians fall into the trap of self-centeredness. We make life, the church, and even the Gospel all about us. But this thinking is dangerous and contrary to Scripture. In 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, Paul attacks this sinful behavior. 

Culture continually rejects Christianity and the gospel for the same reason that the church and the gospel are not about us. The gospel is all about the cross! So let us glory in and rejoice in who God is and the cross of Christ. 

Unity is essential to the health of a church. The local church must be united under the Gospel, or it will face catastrophe. In 1 Corinthians 1:10-17, Paul gives us three steps to becoming united under the Gospel.

Individualism is a major problem in the church today. 1 Corinthians teaches us that living the Gospel is a corporate activity. Christians must live out their faith in and with the local church.
