Christmas is here! It's the most wonderful time of the year. However, the world's view of Christmas is shallow and mistaken. We need to remember the true meaning and purpose of Christmas. Find it in this week's sermon:

"Where is the peace on earth?" Do you find yourself asking this question as we celebrate another Christmas? We sing about peace, joy, and hope, but these ideas feel like a dream. In Revelation 5, we find a glimpse of hope in the Throne Room of Heaven. 

As Christians, we eagerly wait for the return of Christ. But this expectation is not an excuse for laziness. So, how can we glorify God while we wait? James 5:7-12 gives the answer. 

Our world is obsessed with wealth. Sadly, many Christians fall into the trap of living for money. But James 5 warns us about the dangers of living for wealth. 

What do your actions reveal about your purpose in life? Are you living for wealth, success, or comfort? Don't fall into the trap of thinking that you can control your life. James 4 rebukes such foolish thinking. Instead, we need to submit to God's sovereignty. 

Why is slander an acceptable sin? It's common in politics, entertainment, and even our homes and churches. The truth is, God hates slander. James warns against this sin in James 4:11-12. 

Conflicts come from our own sinful hearts. So, what is the solution? We find the answer to all our conflicts in James 4:7-10. Listen to part 2 of the sermon- "Why Can't We Get Along?":

We live in an angry world. Everyone has opinions and preferences, so there's no lack of conflict. So, where do these conflicts come from? James 4:1-6 gives the simple answer. 

How can you spot a fake? The best way to spot a counterfeit is to be familiar with the real version. In James 3:13-18, we learn about real wisdom and its counterfeit. True wisdom comes from God, while fake "wisdom" comes from this world. 

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words shall never hurt me." Many of us were taught this little rhyme as kids. But the fact is, this cute phrase is not accurate. Words are powerful and can be very hurtful. In James 3, we learn about the power of our words:

We all know people who talk a big game but can't back it up. Actions often speak louder than words. In James 2:14-26, we learn that true faith will produce action. Faith will result in good works. Listen to this week's message- "Faith Works":

For many of us, new places are challenging and frightening. We get anxious about new things. The cause of this fear is the reality of favoritism. In James 2, we learn that favoritism has no place in the church. 

What does it mean to live out your faith? Christians are called to follow and serve Christ. So what does that look like? In James 1:19-27, we learn the two necessary steps for living out our faith.
