Derek Newton preaches in this Unity Service as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

The apostle Paul highlights three ways in which the interdependence of believers is undermined. Failure to acknowledge variety, inferiority and superiority. Chris challenges us to overcome these tendencies and to opt to commit to interdependence.

Chris sketches out the general vision of where God seems to be leading us and briefly shares his hopes and dreams for the year ahead. Using 1 Corinthians 12 he then challenges us to eagerly desire the spiritual gifts and to excel in exercising the gifts God has given us, in the service He has called us to, and in the way He chooses to work in us.

As members of the congregation share stories of God's love over that last year Chris applies Romans 5:1-10 explaining that we receive and experience this love through the Holy Spirit and are enabled to express it by the gifts He brings.

Trevor Bailey encourages us to be more excited about Jesus and to share this excitement with others.

In these recordings of the Sunday Club Carol Service and Carols by Candlelight, Chris speaks of how Jesus is a different King to how a king would be imaged to be - A King forever; A King from Heaven; and a King who gives. He then examines how the birth of Jesus fulfils God's big promises to us and challenges us to choose to accept God's promise and put our trust in Him.

Chris unpacks the meaning of receiving Jesus and believing in His name so that we might become children of God. He stresses the importance of each individual responding to God's initiative in order to receive the promise. This is made practical as he calls on us the respond personally to God's call to Burwell Baptist Church.

Paul Brown preaches on Luke 1:67-80 and John the Baptist. He asks if we are preparing to meet Jesus and also if we, like John the Baptist, are pointing others to Jesus and helping them to understand who he is.

As part of his visit to Burwell, Michael Harvey preaches on John 1:35-51 and encourages each of us to become an active part of an inviting church.

Chris examines the Apostle Paul's call for interdependence between men and women and the ways in which we might express this in our worship today. The passage also highlights the differing ways in which the genders showed respect for God in Corinthian culture which prompts questions as to how we should respond to our changing culture today.

Chris continues the series in 1 Corinthians 11, looking at what Paul has to say about the communion meal and the way that it was being observed in the church in Corinth - particularly the need to bring God's Agape love to the meal; to recognise others as part of the body; and hence to be in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Continuing the study of 1 Corinthians in Chapter 13, Chris looks at God's unconditional, undeserved, 'Agape' love for us and reminds us that it is our duty as Christians to show this 'Agape' love of God to others in the way we love them.

Chris applies the Apostle Paul's warnings from Israel's history to our lives and reminds us that we can not endure temptation without Christ.

Chris helps us to identify God's purpose for our church and challenges us to do whatever it takes to fulfil our calling.

Chris continues the series of 1 Corinthians in Chapter 8, drawing parallels between our situation today and the culture of the day in which the early church found itself. He reiterates Paul's conclusion that what matters is not our often inadequate and incomplete knowledge of God, but that God knows and loves us.

David Taylor preaches on Mark Chapter 13 and encourages us to remain spiritually vigilent and confident to face the future in the light of His return.

Rev Chris Johnson examines the essential role of thanksgiving in the Christian's life.

Chris helps us to reflect on recent prophetic words from God relating to open doors. He explores which doors are open, which we need to open and which we are called to pray for God to open.

Chris teaches from the book of Revelation which gives us spiritual insight into the various encounters with the risen Jesus that occur in the last days. That is in the time between Jesus ascension and His return. This book gives a glimpse of earthly events from a heavenly perspective and encourages us to be overcomers.

Peter Finnis shares some fresh insights into the parable of the Prodigal Son.

Chris examines Mary and Martha's encounters with Jesus. Service and contemplation are intended to be expressions of love. The problem is not Martha's service but her distraction from hearing Jesus words and her desire to be superior to her sister. The service concludes with time to worship at Jesus feet.

Chris highlights the nature of the encounter of those Jesus healed. One might have thought that a healing encounter with Jesus might inevitably lead to the healed person following Jesus as Lord. But through the healings recorded in the gospels we discover that is far from certain.

In this message Chris explores the way in which John the Baptist's view of Jesus was transformed.

At the end of our series on 1 Corinthians, Chris summarises the studies so far and answers questions from the congregation.
