In the Parable of the Expectant Steward, Jesus reminds us that He is coming again and that it is our job to be ready. 

Send us Fan Mail Jesus doesn’t just tell us not to worry and then abandon us to figure out how to do that on our own. No, here in Luke 12, He gives us very practical help on how to stop worrying and start trusting.

But if I want to be a growing Christian who pleases the Lord, then I need to repent of my worry and get on with trusting Him in all things. That’s easy to say, but hard to do. Send us Fan Mail When my focus is squarely on the Person of God, I begin to think about Who He is and all that He is. I think about the many names, titles, and descriptions that are found of Him in the Bible. And I cannot help but spend a season of prayer in praise and worship of Him. 

Send us Fan Mail We often – and rightly – begin our times of prayer with praise and adoration and worship of the One True Living God. As we continue our phrase-by-phrase study of the Model Prayer in Luke 11, we come to the phrase, “Hallowed be Your name.” And so we focus on The Praise of Prayer.

Send us Fan Mail To call these mini-parables is not to diminish their weight. Like a boxer throwing a series of jabs, Jesus doesn’t tell elaborate intricate stories. Rather He swiftly punches home the truth of Seeing Life Through the Eyes of Faith.

Send us Fan Mail We like to say that we are like Gideon when we ask God for a sign, when we “lay out the fleece.” But Gideon was seeking the voice of God. We already have the voice of God in the God-breathed Scriptures. If we would simply follow Him in obedience to what we already know, He promises to guide us right to where He wants us.  

Send us Fan Mail Is it ok to ask God for a sign? What are you looking for in a sign? Proof? Guidance? Direction? God calls us to a life of faith, of belief, of trust. For us, oftentimes, signs are merely shortcuts. We don’t want to pay the price of faith. Yet, God calls us to live by faith and not by sight.

As you look back you begin to see the roles that different people have played in your life. And you realize at the center of it all is the most important One of all: the Lord Jesus.
