But did you ever stop to think that there might be more to that tree than a quick glance provides? There are Bible lessons we can learn that may help us appreciate this principal decoration.

Send us Fan Mail A discipline at the core of our Christian faith is prayer. Yet according to a recent Barna poll, only 4 out of 5 prayed at least once in the past week. And only 41% believe that God answers their prayers often. No wonder Jesus encourages His disciples both then and now to pray and expect that the Good Good Father will answer.  

Send us Fan Mail Some people have the absurd belief that God doesn’t answer prayers. Maybe you think it’s harsh to say that someone’s belief is absurd, but Jesus illustrates the belief that God doesn’t answer prayer as absurd by being absurd Himself. No doubt that He is a Good, Good Father Who gives Good Good Gifts to His children. 

Send us Fan Mail God’s invitation is strong and filled with intense passion on His part. He wants us to be saved. And so we hear Him say, “Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” A gracious invitation from a gracious God.

Send us Fan Mail Facing all that comes our way, we need the deliverance, the protection, of God. He sees threats you don’t see. And He sees escape routes you’ve not yet discovered. And so Luke concludes the Model Prayer by teaching us the Protection of Prayer.  

Send us Fan Mail As Luke quotes Jesus in His Model Prayer, he concludes the prayer with the statement, “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” This may be the easiest part of this prayer for us to offer and for God to answer because there is not even the tiniest chance that God will lead us into temptation. We get there, but not by Him. Rather He protects us.

We are living through these signs, these birth pangs that promise the coming of the Lord. We want you to be aware and be prepared.

Send us Fan Mail Jesus is coming again. He said He will. The Scriptures say He will. And as the whole earth groans for His Second Coming, there are signs seen in the everyday world that say He will. Those signs are provided for us to encourage us and to urge us as we prepare for His coming. We see the signs, but do we really understand the signs?

But it is a harder concept to swallow when we begin talking about how the cross divides some families: fathers from sons, mothers from daughters. In that way, even the Prince of Peace can be considered The Great Divider. 

Send us Fan Mail Is there a more beautiful theme than that of forgiveness? To be forgiven is an act of mercy and grace; it is unearned and undeserved. In His Model Prayer, Jesus prayed, “And forgive us our sins.” We need to pray prayers of confession, knowing that He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This is the Pardon of Prayer.

Send us Fan Mail On the surface, today’s passage seems very difficult because we associate Jesus with love and peace and reconciliation and unity and the like. Yet we get to hear Jesus say, “Nope, I came to bring division.” We need more than a casual glance at this passage, so let’s get in to it.

Send us Fan Mail As this section of Scripture begins, Peter wants to know from Jesus if He is talking to everybody in general or just to the disciples. Let me remind you that as you read from God’s Word, He is talking to you. These verses pertain to every born-again Child of God, every servant of His, every person He has entrusted with a stewardship. This is how we are to live and serve.
