Send us Fan Mail We can all think of people who have made a significant impact upon our lives, people who have made a real difference. At the close of Paul’s second letter to Timothy and at the close of his life, Paul recalls, likely with much love and gratitude, the people who have made a difference in his life and ministry as they have partnered with him along the way. 

Send us Fan Mail We often pray for the manifest presence of God. We often pray for the glory of God to be revealed. We often pray for the power of God to be on display. And when He shows up, we often shut down. Sometimes we don’t know how to act when the only explanation is the activity of God. May we not be like any of the people that we read about in this section of Luke 11.

As you look back you begin to see the roles that different people have played in your life. And you realize at the center of it all is the most important One of all: the Lord Jesus. 

Send us Fan Mail We are reminded that Paul is at the end of his life as he writes these closing verses in the final chapter of the last book he will write. That stage of life has a way of redefining priorities. You soon realize that what matters greatly are the relationships you have formed over the years. Paul takes a quick look back at some of the people he has encountered. 

Send us Fan Mail When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, they may have had in mind that He would give them a script to follow. But what He gave them was a model. Sometimes we call this the Lord’s Prayer, but maybe it’s more appropriate to call it the Model Prayer. He gave them elements that would grow their prayer life that they might be mighty men of prayer. 

Send us Fan Mail God promises reward for His faithful servants. And these rewards will not perish. The Bible calls them crowns, and it mentions five by name. Living in Light of the End means, in part, looking forward to the reward God has promised His children.

To hear the heavy burden He carried for the hurting, …for the world,…for them. Maybe even to hear your own name called out in prayer. No wonder the disciples said, “Lord, teach us to pray.”

Send us Fan Mail In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, you just can’t escape the application part. Yes, it is easy to find yourself in one or more of the characters of the story. But Jesus’ application is, “Go and do likewise.” We must get involved in the lives of others, for the glory of God. 

Send us Fan Mail Sometimes people ask questions because they genuinely seek answers. But sometimes people ask questions as a means of making some sort of statement. In Luke 10, a lawyer does just that to Jesus – he asks Jesus a question just wanting to justify himself. Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way. Send us Fan Mail Preachers must preach. And they must do so when it is convenient and when it is not, when it is comfortable and when it is not. No matter what goes his way, he is to persevere in the calling with which he has been called.

That is just as true when we get to chapter 4 and Paul talks about the Preacher. His greatest desire ought to be to please the One who called Him, the One who enlisted him.
