Bethesda Christian Church Sermon of the Week

This world we live in wants to own us. Allow the Holy Spirit to be the one to help your mind be renewed. When God has all of us, and when the world has none of us, God does the work of renewing our confused minds.

Today, we were reminded that we are called to be as wise as serpents and to be harmless as doves.

Grow and mature in Christ to gain strength in repelling the evil that abounds all around. 1 Corinthians 16:13 tells us to, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; and be strong."

As we close the series, Pastor Pat talks about the pair truth and lies. The Word of God is truth. Ask God to reveal the truth and put Jesus at the center.

Wisdom and foolishness. The world will often tell you what you want to hear. But God's wisdom is precious and life-giving.

Heaven and Hell. To deny Heaven and Hell is to deny the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross.

Male and female. It is not our choice to change who God created us to be.

Creator and creation. We are called to enter His presence, not to build a tower to be above His presence. We were created to recognize our creator and come to him with thanksgiving and praise.

Justice and mercy. Justice is receiving what is deserved, mercy is not receiving what is deserved. Repentance fits in with How God’s perfect justice is reconciled with his unbounded mercy.

Remember and forget. Be encouraged that God remembers and God forgets. He forgets the sin and transgressions you have confessed before Him. And He remembers you, and will have compassion on you.

When our focus is drawn from Jesus, rather than towards Him, our soul doesn't rest. When we look to the Word of God, we find that Jesus is the answer for worry, stress, and unrest.

Pride and humility. The Word of God offers a transformative remedy from pride to Christ-like humility through repentance and surrender.

We get one life. Stay undistracted and choose to not chase the things that this life offers you. Instead, seek God's kingdom first.

Choose life. Life is found by being obedient to the Lord your God.

Acknowledge Jesus Christ is Lord, repent, surrender it to Him, and allow the Word of his Gospel fill your heart and bring down the idol.

Jesus is our source of life. Jesus gave his life to secure and therefore assure eternal life.

In Jesus, we do not need to fear death because He conquered death. Jesus is the author of life because life originates through Him.

The kingdom Jesus established on earth is not of this world. It is by faith by His word and by faith.

We have struggles and pain and brokenness because of the evil that came into the world. But God authored and planed a way of rescue, the way of faith.

All of us have a redemption story in Jesus. Remain steadfast in the faith and resist the influence of those who deny Jesus.

We must leave room for a new - fresh touch from the Spirit of the Living God. Be prepared that when Jesus has new things for us, that we have room for these changes.

If we ever come begging Jesus with such selfishly motivated requests, our comfort, our appetite, we might just get what we ask for and miss out on something far better.

Faith is not always easy. May your heart be enlightened by the promise of Jesus. In times of uncertainty and fear, we can rely on the Holy Spirit.

When one turns in repentance toward Jesus, He is merciful, and He forgives. Jesus calls for a change of mind, a change of heart that results in a change in life direction.
