Bethesda Christian Church Sermon of the Week

Communion is the fulfillment of the Old Covenant Passover. Jesus' blood is sufficient to take away our sins. Communion gives us the opportunity to reflect and remember on the sacrifice that Jesus made.

The Word of God outlasts everything. The same Word still speaks to our human condition no matter the era we are in. Do not let the loudness of the world drawn out the voice of God in your life. Take every opportunity to tell others of His unchanging Word that brings eternal life.

The question for all of us, not just fathers, is not "What is your Title?" but "Are you faithful to those God has placed in your life?" The church is not strengthened by people with Titles, it is strengthened by people who are faithful to one another.

All Christians are called to share the Gospel with those around us. Are we contributing to the Kingdom of God, or are we simply consuming? Consumers are spectators, but contributors are participants. What step can you take today to move from being a consumer to being a contributor?

Jesus remains faithful even when we make mistakes. The question is not have you ever failed, but will you turn to Him in your failure?

Have we died with Christ? And are we living with Him? Baptism is more than a symbol. It is an image of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We can endure because He is faithful.

We are called to be witnesses wherever we go. In order to carry that out, we need the power of the Holy Spirit to equip and lead us. Share your story of how Jesus has helped you.

As Christians, our citizenship is in heaven first before any earthly citizenship. We are called to live peaceful and quiet lives to create space for the gospel to be shared to those around us. Lets be a people who pray for those in authority over us.

We live in a culture that is all about instant gratification and busyness. Fasting helps us to slow down, say no to temptation, and deepen our relationship with God. There is no greater reward than to spend time in the presence of God in worship and prayer.

In our culture, blaming and pointing the finger is a natural reaction. Daniel teaches us that the people of God do not look to the Lord and aim to blame, but come to Him trusting not in our righteousness, but in His great mercy, leading with confession.

God created us for relationship. Through Jesus, He doesn’t save us into isolation but into His Kingdom and His people. The local church is God’s gift for our good, our growth, our protection, and His glory.

Christianity is more than just your own salvation and walk with Jesus but also as a ministry that’s outward. In Christ, you are saved and sent to share the hope and salvation that Jesus offers.

God values children and so should we. How will you help children draw closer to Jesus?

Jesus came because our condition was terminal. Our problem isn’t just behavioral—it’s fatal. And to deal with what’s fatal, we don’t just need help, we need life. Too often, we miss the life Jesus offers because we’re looking for a miracle and miss the meaning behind why He came. Do you believe He is the resurrection and the life—not just someday, but today?

On Palm Sunday, the people missed the hope that Jesus offered. They were focused on the temporary, not the eternal. True hope isn’t found in what we want Jesus to do for us—it’s found in what He has already done for us. Let’s not miss that Jesus has given us eternal hope, something that will never spoil, fade, or perish.

Jesus makes a distinction between following after religion, and the empty dead works of rituals, contrasting it to a divine relationship. Jesus offers eternal life not as a hope but as an assurance. Your salvation is not resting on your strength to hold on to God. It is resting on God’s strength to hold on to you. How will you respond to this assurance?

A man working for insurance with God is a man who will never be at rest. Whatever you do to merit God’s approval will never settle that inner restlessness. However, rest for your soul is a gift Jesus offers. Come to Jesus in repentance, and you will find rest for your soul.

Not all belief is saving faith. There is a difference between being impressed by Jesus and truly turning to Him as a follower. Only Jesus has the authority to free us from sin, and the freedom He gives is greater than any freedom the world can offer. Through Him we are released from trying to earn God’s favor through rituals, religious acts, penance, or self-condemnation. True freedom comes throug...

Once you put your faith in Jesus, you are established in Him. This isn’t something we can accomplish on our own—it is only through Jesus that we are made firm and secure. The gospel is not merely the starting point of your journey of faith; it is the foundation on which your life is built. We are called to grow deeper, to mature, and to continue building our lives on that truth.

We needed redemption because, without Jesus, we are broken and bound under the curse of sin. No amount of human effort can redeem a soul—only Jesus can. He redeemed us by paying the highest cost imaginable. His own blood. You are no longer owned by your past. You cannot lift the curse on your own, but Jesus already has.

Through Christ’s redeeming work, believers receive full adoption into God’s family, the Spirit of sonship, and the inheritance of Christ Himself. Because of Jesus, we are no longer slaves but sons and daughters—fully loved, fully welcomed, and fully heirs of God Where in your life are you living more as an orphan instead of a son or daughter of God?

In Jesus, you are reconciled with God. Reconciliation is not a goal to achieve, but a reality to receive. Our sin is no longer counted against us, Jesus took it on. God has now set your value priceless because of Jesus. We are now fit to be reconciled to God, not because of what you have done or could do, but only because of what Jesus has done.

Forgiveness is tied to sacrifice. Jesus became the final sacrifice for us and something we cannot achieve on our own. We still will make mistakes, so we are called to confess our sins to one another. Confession does not re-secure salvation - it restores fellowship. The discipline from God is not in judgement but because He loves us.

We know that Jesus has set us free. We are justified—declared guiltless, free to go. Yet so often we feel like we still owe something, like we’ll never be good enough. But is that how it really works? Righteousness is not earned; it’s a gift. You are righteous because of Jesus—not because you never fail, but because Christ never failed.
