When Jesus shows Himself to the disciples after the resurrection, He tells them what their message should be: First of course, is Jesus Himself. His life, suffering, death and resurrection. This is how the gospel sounds to humans: ridiculous. Even to the disciples. T he disciples responded poorly at first to the news of the resurrection. Remember, the road from thinking this Worthless to Worship is travelled with divine help as He opens minds and hearts. Even the disciples needed some help to believe in the resurrection. We might expect the same from our not-yet-brothers and sisters....

Mary Magdalene makes a mistake on Easter Sunday.  She goes to the tomb to seek the HORIZONTAL Jesus, not the VERTICAL Jesus. She is seeking the dead, soon to be stinky, probably stolen body of Jesus.  Jesus asks her a great question: WHOM ARE YOU SEEKING? Apparently, Mary Magdalene breaks the rules about holding on too  tightly to  to the resurrected Jesus. It is a sweet rule to break. She is the first to see Jesus after His rising from the dead. She recognizes Him as He speaks her name. We'll all hear our name spoken by Jesus either in friendship or in judgment.  My recommendation is to receive Him kindly as Lord and friend, so He can address...

He MUST rise. Why? He said He would. Fulfillment of this promise gives us confidence in all His other promises. Preeminence. His stature is exalted, leading, famous and foremost. Holy Saturday is traditionally a quiet day in the Church. It is a day of thinking, reflecting and doing a private faith-check of yourself.  It is the best day of the year to believe.
