A Sure Hope

Many people don’t want to surrender to God because they have it in their head that that’s weakness. Today, Pastor Dave reminds us that it’s the Holy Spirit in us that makes us stronger than we ever could be on our own. When you’re walking in harmony with the Lord, His strength is made perfect through your weaknesses.

How hard is it, to work at a bakery and not eat any sugar? If you’re serious about not ingesting it, you remove the temptation, right? Pastor Dave reminds us today that it works much the same way when you become a Christian; you must separate yourself from your old life in order to not fall to the temptation.

Despite his failings, David demonstrated a humble, penitent heart. He tried to hide his sin at first, but then was reminded the hard way that God sees everything. As Pastor Dave will point out in today’s message, instead of turning from God, David turned his heart towards Him even as he dealt with the consequences of his sin.

As much as we look at King David with a sort of romanticized view, often labeling him as a hero, he had some serious downfalls. Adulterer and murderer were both accurate titles for this man. If you gave your life to free someone from slavery, just for them to return to it of their own will, that would greatly dishonor your sacrifice. Sadly, many believers do this with Christ’s death. As Pastor Dave will exhort us in today’s message, if you’ve been freed from the slavery of sin – don’t submit yourself back under its power!

If you sense God leading you to share His love with someone else – don’t hesitate. You may immediately worry whether you’ll say the right words, but that’s a needless fear. The idea that any sin is small and harmless is a lie from our enemy. As Pastor Dave will point out in today’s message, this truth is made clearly evident in the life of King David. Sin only leads to more sin unless it’s confessed in humility and turned away from through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Those who climb the highest have the farthest to fall. David is one of the most revered men in the Old Testament. Most Christian men aspire to be like him in some way. Imagine a father working on a project, sure his 6 year old probably isn't very much help but it's a learning and bonding experience.

Don’t be afraid to surrender to the One who hold all things in His hands.

You were meant to die on a cross but Jesus stepped in and took your place. Be thankful for the things that you do deserve, but never had to endure.

How often do you get an urge to do something and just jump right in? Today, Pastor Dave reminds us of David, who accomplished what God wanted him to do, but didn’t always seek the Lord first. Remember that there are lots of good thing you can do, but if you don’t seek God, you won’t receive His blessing.

Once you believe in the Lord, there’s a tendency to become stagnant in your faith. You say you believe, then you continue on in your life as before. Pastor Dave will challenge you to daily seek to grow closer to the Lord and more mature in your faith. It requires effort on your part. But God is so worth it!

Sometimes God’s promises feel really far off and impossible. You may be tempted to give up on the things God has promised you. However, Pastor Dave will encourage you today to wait patiently on the Lord. He is working in ways you can’t see. And as you wait for him, serve him. Press on in faith trusting God completely.

Differences between people and cultures can sometimes feel quite vast. They cause division, anger and fear. However, as Pastor Dave explains today, you must remember all believers of Christ are ONE. You are united. Seek to live your faith in unity with your brothers and sisters. Don’t allow differences to fracture the family of God!
