A Sure Hope

Did your parents ever have a rule that seemed unfair, only for you to realize later; that the rule was in place to keep you safe? In today’s message, Pastor Dave speaks about how Amaziah let his pride get the better of him. Amaziah thought himself above God’s commandments, and it backfired hard.

Like father, like son. Not always a good thing. Like the story of Jehoram and Uzziah. They surrounded themselves with things that eventually led to their demise as we learn from Pastor Dave today. The best place you can be is with God. He keeps you from what's CONTRADICTORY to the good things that are found when you follow Him.

Imagine choosing the negative thing in your life over the positive. Weird, right? But how often do we do just that when we ignore God's instructions? Don't be like Jehosaphat. Spend time with Jesus instead of bad influences! Before long, we'll discover He's given us what our hearts have longed for. This is Pastor Dave's message today.

You can be following the Lord and life's good, then WHAM! One poor decision ruins it all, not only for you but also those close to you. We see this today as Pastor Dave talks about the story of Jehosaphat. Sure, he tried to bring the two nations back together, but hanging out with Ahab wasn't the way. It was just plain bad.

It cannot be avoided, you will go through battles! But God will get you through them!!! Today, Pastor Dave needs you to understand that God is here to help you! He is a good, good Father, and when you ask you will receive. Please, never lose hope, because as with all things, this too shall pass.

Before these warriors arrived at the battlefield, they were praising the name of God for their victory, which hadn't even happened yet! In today's message, Pastor Dave encourages us to always praise God, because, in Him, all things are possible. Will you praise God in confidence knowing your battle's won?

If you want to model prayer to those around you, Pastor Dave highly encourages reading up on the prayer Jehoshaphat prayed before the battle. This prayer is beautiful because it very humbly states that without God, we don't amount to much, and it puts glory back on Him. Do your prayers look like this today?

When you feel like the entire world is against you, you can turn to God. He will NEVER abandon you. When you grow closer to God, he grows closer to you. Pastor Dave wants you to be confident in this knowledge today because, in our ever-shifting society, God is an unchanging, sturdy, and reliable rock.

When we resist the devil, he will flee from us! In this message, Pastor Dave points out that the average Christian quickly assumes they will succumb to the devil, and ironically, end up doing so in the process. Today, be uplifted by the knowledge that God has given you the power to resist and conquer Satan.

One bad decision is all it takes to derail your life. We have more access to the Holy Spirit than the prophets of the Old Testament did! But in the Old Testament, the Spirit only dwelled briefly - even for prophets!

Are you labored and heavily burdened today? Pastor Dave wants you to know that through God, you don't have to be! God's word tells us that in Christ, we will have rest. This is just one of the many mercies of God; because, in Him, we are also forgiven of sin through God's beautiful grace and mercy. Live into that promise!
