50/50 Films

In an unexpectedly long episode Peter and Autumn discuss the 2022 film Metal Lords and a 2012 favorite of Peter's, John Dies at the End. These were movies 78 and 79 of the year and the hosts' 100 Movie Project. 21 more to go!

Peter and Autumn finally watched the iconic 1987 film The Princess Bride! In this episode they talk about the movie and how it held up compared to the book. They also watched the 2022 release, The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, and Daniel Radcliffe. In the media break you can hear about the scary stories Peter has been reading and why Autumn is mad at Hulu.

It's foreign films week on the 50/50 Films podcast! Peter decided to shake things up and pick the first movie for the week, leaving Autumn to come up with a theme. This week's films include RRR (2022) and Tune in for Love (2019). 

It's Philip Seymour Hoffman week on 50/50 Films! Autumn revisited Capote, a movie she watched in high school but Peter had never seen, and Peter chose The Master. The ratings between the two movies were three "memorables" and one "boring," listen to find out who thought what. 

Autumn picked a movie that Peter was not really impressed by. Then Peter picked a movie that Autumn was not that impressed by. But be assured that at least one person was impressed by each movie. 

Autumn picked another musical and Peter was not impressed. He chose a comedy so he could feel happy again. 

The theme of this week's episode is "no rookies." Peter and Autumn watch the 2022 Disney release, Lightyear and follow it up with a cop movie from 1971, Dirty Harry.

Then Peter tries to go into talking about his Dungeons and Dragons campaign  but Autumn cuts him off to save you from having to listen to a three hour long podcast. You're welcome. 

It's a Wall Street themed episode this week! Autumn and Peter watched Hustlers, a 2019 movie about strippers struggling to make money after the 2008 recession and drugging stockbrokers to get it. Then they watched one of Peter's all-time favorite movies: The Wolf of Wall Street, the 2013 movie based on the memoir by the same name by former stock broker, Jordan Belfort. 

This week's episode features two characters who desperately want to grow up. One of them is a magical eternal being, the other is a 16-year-old girl. In the media break, catch up on what Autumn and Peter have been watching this week. They've seen the entirety of Moon Knight, started the newest season of Love Island UK, and started season two of Jane the Virgin. 

It's Autumn's turn to ask the questions. Peter answers ten questions about the first fifty movies the couple has watched this year. 

A thirteen year old witch in training with a talking black cat and a man smuggling data in his brain, what's the connection? Autumn and Peter watched both these movies this week...and that's about the only connection there is between them.

This week's movie selections are both R rated, one for lots of f words and the other for "a vicious fight." During the media break Autumn talks about how catching up her friend on Marvel has become a whole Marvel rewatch and Peter reviews a nine book series that he completed over the weekend. 

This week's movies are the YA novel film adaption of The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson and the 1990 sci-fi action film, Total Recall. Both movies deal with memories, though in totally different ways. During the media break learn who Peter's favorite Jane the Virgin characters are and if he's #teammichael or #teamrafael. 

Peter and Autumn are back to recording in the same room! This week's movie picks were from 2005 and 1996 and both classics in their own right. This episode's media break includes a little bit of Star Wars, a little bit of Marvel, and a little bit of an all-time favorite show: The Great British Baking Show. 

This week Peter and Autumn are recording from separate rooms in their apartment due to Autumn being sick so the sound quality may vary. The Breaker Upperers & Cyrus are two "artsy" "comedy" films. It's X-Men week on the 50/50 Films podcast! Autumn and Peter watched two X-Men movies this past weekend (X2 and X3) wrapping up their first X-Men trilogy. One of the movies Autumn loved and the other one she really didn't. Peter is still a big fan. 

Peter and Autumn got caught up on the latest Marvel movie and have opposing opinions on it. Then they watched The Eyes of Tammy Faye, the 2021 biopic that Jessica Chastain won Best Actress for in the latest Academy Awards.  To skip Dr. Strange spoilers you can start the episode at 35:32. 

Peter and Autumn coped with a rough week by watching two light-hearted movies. They also finished Brooklyn Nine-Nine and give a little recap of the show during the media break. Also included in this week's media break are two stand up specials and Peter's thoughts on how Netflix is positively contributing to stand comedy as a whole. 

This week Peter and Autumn watched two movies that feature complicated family relationships. Turning Red is the a 2022 release from Disney about a girl who finds herself with the ability to change into a red panda when she feels emotional and Inception is a 2010 modern classic sci-fi heist.
