The Home Video Hustle

Oh it's a big episode this week and unlike Star Wars, this is a movie that neither hosts have seen before. Will this be a similar scenario as that? What happens when Brent can't help guide PJ or himself through this three hour movie? There really weren't a lot of tangents this week but there was a lot of questions and confusion. Brent says it early on in the episode, "Struggle is the word of the d...

Before we get back to doing our usual random movies out of the bag, we have to do our first movie given to us by one of our Patreon backers. For this inaugural pick we were gifted "From Justin To Kelly" from Brendan and Nathan from the What Were They Thinking Podcast. This movie was a notorious bomb from 2003 that we don't think anyone saw but we have to do what many others couldn't and endure thi...

It's the final episode of the Black History Marathon and we get to finally talk about Spike Lee's latest film, Blackkklansman. As we figured, this is the longest episode of the show to date and it gets real a lot this week. This one had us really going deep into the film and exploring themes that we deal with on a day to day basis. PJ and The Spirit get into several heated debates about problems w...

As the Black History Marathon comes near it's end we had to finally get this one in! Original Gangstas puts 70's era greats against the gangs of the 90's and the results are movie magic! Next weeks movie is gonna be a lot more serious in tone so we had to have some more fun this week to prepare. Of course other things are discussed, such as PJ's experience with guns and almost shooting Brent with...

Other than the movie we also talk about 2000s era hip-hop, life imprisonment, Southpole brand clothes, high schoo...

Hype levels are high as we sing a few sons, tell stories about foul things happening on playgrounds, PJ has a new love for threatening people with bana...

Unfortunately PJ couldn't record for this weeks episode so I conjured up The Spirit and we talked all about Spike Lee's first feature film, "She's Gotta Have It." I had never seen this before but she had and she has a lot to day about it this episode and as usual for this month serious topics get discussed. We also talk about the Netflix remake of this movie, Jordan shoes, church, sexuality and Th...

In 1987 it was a different landscape for Black actors trying to make it big in Hollywood and this week's movie, "Hollywood Shuffle" shows the struggles of trying to get in that door but with a comedic spin. Oh yes it's still Black History Month and we finally get to talk about a Robert Townsend movie, his first even! If you haven't noticed yet, this is the longest episode so far and it's because o...

For Black History Month, this time we decided to watch a flick many people consider to be an absolute classic. Black History Month has started so all this month AND next month it's gonna be all black movies here on HVH and we are starting with a big one. We do talk about a few other things like the Black National Anthem, annoying voice...

Well, Brent has to deal with another Disney Movie this week. PJ is out this week so The Spirit stepped up and even picked a movie to watch. Other than the movie, was also talk about Netflix cracking down on shared user accounts, favorite Sandra Bullock movies, Aquaman and...

MST3K is Brent's favorite TV show but somehow for over ten years PJ has avoided watching it, that ends today, In another installment of the PJ's Never Seen series, he finally has to sit down and watch what may be one of the biggest inspirations for this very podcast! This episode is jam packed with Brent getting his nerd on and trying to teach P all about the show so there's way less tangents than...

It's a new year and we've got unfinished business. It's about time PJ got back to his journey through the Star Wars saga and of course he hasn't seen this before. Also in this episode we talk about high grossing movies, the Star Wars Episode 1 Racer arcade game, Spirit looks...

The Christmas season is here and it's a miracle that we didn't have to start it off with another Jack Frost situation! PJ's first pick is the 3rd movie in the Friday trilogy. Also on the show, we talk about our love and hate of snow, shoes, potato salad and deviled eggs, porn, girlfriends and hookups, scam callers interrupt the show multiple...

It's the final episode of the Halloween Hustle and we're going back to the hood.
