30: My experience with cyberbullying and harassment on Reddit 09.04.2021 30:42
My experience with cyberbullying and harassment just keeps getting weirder and weirder. This morning I received a temporary suspension from the network for reporting the bullying I was receiving - which was called 'report abuse'. I'm recording all this in order to draw attention to the fact that cyberbullying and anti-Semitism are running rampant and unchecked on the social network.
29: Testing pitch modulation for anonymizing my voice 06.04.2021 4:33
My friend and I are thinking about interviewing somebody on a podcast we host but we'd have to anonymize his voice. I recorded this to demonstrate the limits of basic pitch modulation for anonymizing a voice. My Irish accent comes through but it goes some part of the way towards disguising my identity (I think).
28: Increased authenticity as a reaction to cyberbullying (on Reddit) 05.04.2021 10:42
Today, I continued to receive online harassment and cyberbullying on Reddit - with a "moderator" even lending explicit support. I'm sure that the hatred will eventually simmer down and I'm looking forward to no longer participating on Reddit. But equally it's got me wondering: what positives can I draw from this experience? I wanted to suggest - for myself and anybody else watching this - sharing...

26: What's it like to live in Jerusalem? 04.04.2021 18:22
I've been living in Jerusalem, Israel, for the past seven years. What's living here like? What are the pros and cons? Some thoughts on both.
25: What's it like being an Irish Jew? 04.04.2021 12:10
What's it like being Irish and Jewish at the same time? I'm an Irish Jew, born in Dublin, and I wanted to share a few thoughts about the sometimes conflicted identity of being an Irish Jew.
24: Quitting Reddit, cyberbullying, and online anonymity! 03.04.2021 27:35
Today, I decided that I'm quitting Reddit. After two years on the network, I've just grown sick of the toxicity, cyberbullying (usually unchecked by moderators), and harassment. I wanted to use the opportunity to talk a little bit about the effects of anonymity and how it often leads to cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and online harassment. I don't believe that Reddit and the moderators that police...
23: What's it actually like to live in Israel? 02.04.2021 22:16
What's it actually like to live in Israel? Some pros and cons.
20: Can you be a full time writer with ADHD? 02.04.2021 24:02
In a re-recording of my previous podcast on the topic (I got cold feet!) I talk about whether you can work as a full time writer while having ADHD. This episode might be of interest to any writers that have ADHD and one of its subtypes.
21: The benefits of flight mode for productivity 25.03.2021 12:58
Flight mode is one of the best productivity-enhancing discoveries that I've ever made. In this episode of the podcast, I discuss how I chanced upon flight mode and how I used it in order to get into better flow states when writing.
19: What was it like growing up Jewish in Ireland? 25.03.2021 45:27
This podcast is a bit jumbled but I discuss my recent dispatch from Israel to RTÉ Prime Time and my interest in journalism. I segue into my thoughts about my Irish Jewish identity and what it was like growing up Jewish in Ireland.
18: Alex Fasulo, Freelance Course Creators, and Fiverr and Tik Tok Millionaires 19.03.2021 27:19
In episode 18 of the Daniel Rosehill Podcast I discuss my recent Medium post discussing the case of Alex Fasulo, who claims to have made $378K in yearly revenue just from working on Fiverr. I explain what I think about freelance writing course providers in general and why I think that, in most cases, they're selling useless information or information that could be obtained for free. I also run thr...
16: Why inbound marketing is great for freelancers 19.03.2021 17:14
Inbound marketing is one of the most powerful means of scaling a freelance business (of any kind). It allows one to develop an ongoing 'drip' of inbound leads. Unlike outbound marketing, it tends to accrue in value over time. It's perfect for tiny business units like solo freelancers who don't have the resources to talk to lots of potential leads only to convert a minority into customers. I've sta...
15: Is petty corporate espionage bogging down your sales pipeline? 16.03.2021 27:45
In this episode of the podcast, I discuss my longstanding belief that petty corporate espionage is a pervasive phenomenon facing freelancers and small businesses. I discuss some of my own experiences dealing with overly inquisitive sales "leads," talk briefly about some of my own (regrettable) attempts to collect competitor intelligence, and explain why I think that transparency and authenticity c...
14: My journey with freelance writing to date 10.03.2021 37:38
I recorded this podcast to share some thoughts about freelance writing. Specifically how to get started, how to find clients, and some of the opportunities and challenges I see in the industry. I completely forgot that I was planning on adding some Israel-specific information as well as guidance for how to freelance internationally. But those details will have to wait for another episode.
13: Pseudonyms and fake online identities 10.03.2021 24:38
To accompany my recent Medium post — and some recent goings-on in my life — I recorded this episode to discuss the interesting dynamic of fake online identities which is growing in significance as deep fakes and other manifestations of AI trickery take over the internet. This provided a nice segue to discuss a recent pseudonymous publishing experiment and why pseudonyms — and fake IDs — are not su...
12: My struggle with functional dyspepsia (FD) 10.03.2021 37:08
There's very little information online about functional dyspepsia (FD). To make my small contribution towards changing that, I decided to record a podcast episode - in lieu of a failed video attempt - describing what FD is, what its two subtypes are, and the problems it can throw up for sufferers.
11: Why are Irish eyes on Israel's pandemic response? 05.03.2021 23:04
I spent a chunk of this week giving commentary from 'on the ground' (in Israel) to Irish media organizations. Why are the Irish so interested in Israel's management of the pandemic? And why is Israel doing such a great job at rolling out a vaccine push? I share my thoughts on episode eleven of the Daniel Rosehill Podcast.
10: The Value Of Being Less Responsive 23.07.2020 34:11
In episode ten of the podcast I discuss a blog post I wrote several months ago about (what I see as) the value of being less responsive. I discuss the various methodologies I have used to ensure that I remain in a flow state of focus without becoming bogged down in notifications and getting sidelined by synchronous forms of communication. As I state, this is very much a work in progress for me. An...
09: Phrases To Cool The Fire Of Angry Online Debates 23.07.2020 42:43
The internet can be a hostile and angry place. Good debates can quickly turn into ugly mud-slinging contests and reasoned back-and-forths can quickly lose all semblance of respectability. Drawing upon a couple of recent experiences, here are some customer service stock phrases that can be used to help calm down debates and extricate oneself from the fire. Interested in getting in touch? Email podc...
08: Living in Ireland and Israel Compared 16.07.2020 53:39

07: 3 Reasons To Start A Backup Routine 15.07.2020 26:24
Think backups are boring? I did too until I lost data! This podcast is an accompaniment to a forthcoming post about the importance of backups and following the 3-2-1 backup principle for all mission-critical data that you want to protect. 06: Trusting Your Gut Instinct In Freelancing 15.07.2020 20:49
Somebody recently asked on Quora: "what is your advice to an aspiring freelancer?" I offered my opinion as to why I think gut instincts are a bit like our own built-in ML models: they get better with time as they accrue more underlying data from our experience. I also go through some of the common orange and red flags I have encountered during five years of freelance writing. And explain why, over...
05: Dealing With Criticism (And Abuse) As A Writer 15.07.2020 23:19
I had what I think was an interesting revelation last week: virtually anybody that publishes frequently online, or podcasts, or produces YouTube videos, is going to come up against both legitimate online criticism and online abuse sooner or later. In this episode of my podcast, I give a little bit of background about how I got into writing — including my epoch founding Cork Student News, UCC's fir...
04: The Jerusalem Municipality's pandemic street party 15.07.2020 12:13
What's a smart thing to do in the middle of a pandemic? How about running a nightly street festival? That's what the Jerusalem Municipality seems to have decided and here's what I have to say about it! To get in touch, please visit danielrosehill.com. Or drop me an email at podcast@danielrosehill.com.
