Pathfinder Church Messages

Families are the building blocks of society but what made God decide that putting together a bunch of different personalities, ages, and hormone levels under a single roof is a good idea? Beyond biological reproduction, what is the purpose of a family... Being “not of the world” brings to mind many different, peculiar behaviors that Christians embody (a.k.a “piety”), some of which are Scriptural and some that aren’t. As Jesus coined this phrase, however, his focus was less on our behavior and more on... We know we’re all sinners, but some sinners are way worse than others. So bad that they are totally excluded from the possibility of salvation, right? Not only do we selectively point to only some of the people the Bible names as wrongdoers but we... We have an obsession with dividing ourselves up into categories of immature and mature. “Mature” people even demand “more meat” from their churches and pastors. But true maturity isn’t demanding and it’s not all about “knowing.” Website | https://pathfinderstl.org Online Giving | https://pathfinderstl.org/give Podcasts | https://pathfinderstl.org/podcasts Facebook | https://facebook.com/pathfinder...

Christians are supposed to hate money, be poor, right? No! It’s not money, it’s the LOVE of money that is the problem. Whew, that’s good news, who would possibly love money? We all do! But by giving it away, we break its hold over us. Although this is a statement of comfort, we often think about God’s “plans” (or his “will”) in a way that is very specific and restrictive—even fatalistic. God’s will is much more open than most of us think. To most, prayer is seen as a Christian duty not as a tool that God has entrusted to us to enlist his power to change our circumstances. Miracles, by definition, are acts that stand in defiance of the natural world. Jesus did miracles, but after his resurrection, supernatural healings (and other miracles) start happening through his followers! Throughout time certain people have been given extraordinary gifts for God’s purposes. On the day called Pentecost, the Spirit of God is poured out on all Jesus-followers, giving supernatural gifts indiscriminately to them. Sometimes while we’re badgering God for answers, God speaks a message calling for our silence. There’s something God wants us to hear, even in the silence. One of the most difficult words to hear is a word of rebuke. Perhaps that’s why God almost always has to speak them through another person. Yet these kinds of messages are necessary for our correction and our return to wholeness. Sometimes God speaks a message very clearly, but we resist it because it just doesn’t sound right (it’s counter-intuitive).
