Past and Present

Hood movies are a staple in America cinema, but which movies are the best of the best. I have my list, and I'm pretty sure your list won't match mine. Hear my pics for the top hood movies of all time, in my opinion.

This cult classic film was draped with controversy when it first premiered in theaters. Compared to how movies are now this one seems very tame. The Warriors tells a thrilling tale of a gang trying to "bop" there way back to their hood after being accused of killing another street gang's leader. While this movie is a cult classic, does it stand the test of time? Hear my thoughts today!!!!

Redemption is the long game in Paul Schrader's THE CARD COUNTER. Told with Schrader's trademark cinematic intensity, the revenge thriller tells the story of an ex-military interrogator (Oscar Issac) turned gambler haunted by the ghosts of his past. There was an ad for this movie on HBOMax, so I decided to check it out since the trailer looked good. Was I disappointed? Check out my view today!

The 90s was filled with many colorful urban dating movies, including this hood class. Starring Jamie Foxx, Vivica Fox, Tamala Jones and Tommy Davidson, this movie has fun with dating in the mid 90s in a safe sex protected world (somewhat) and is one of the most hilarious movies from the genre. Does it stand the test of time? Listen today to find out.

The latest entry into the Jurassic Universe has done pretty well in the box office with the return of not only the Jurassic World cast, but also the Jurassic Park cast. This has been done in a lot of movies for nostalgic purposes, but does it pay off in this film? Hear my thoughts on the movie today!

The Zoo Gang follows a group of kids battling the local bullies to keep their club open in this 80s teenage extravaganza. If it sounds a little crazy, that's because it is! This is a classic movie to me and I have so many fond memories surrounding it. That being said, does this move stand the test of time? Listen to my thoughts today!

Tell me you watched the first 15 minutes of this season and wasn't blown away! The Boys is back with another season that sees Homelander rise to power, Butcher flirting with superpowers, a new threat in Soldier Boy arises, and herogasm (yes, it's finally here). There was a split on the season finale for fans, so I thought I'd give my two cents on it as well. Check it out today. www. EnimaKidd.com

The latest MCU entry is Thor: Love and Thunder! Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to make the gods extinct. Is this a good movie? Do you even care about Marvel anymore? I hope you do cause I have some thoughts on this movie and so much more! www. EnigmaKidd.com

With Thor Love and Thunder dropping soon, I thought it would be neat to go back to where it all began. The fourth installment in the MCU timeline has the powerful but arrogant god Thor getting cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders. Is this movie good, or has it lost its way with the amazing MCU movies that have come out si...

A group of Southern California high school students are enjoying their most important subjects: sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. A 80's classic film may have been ahead of its time with some of the issues it covered. Here are my thoughts on one of my favorite 80's flicks, when life was so much easier and better :-)

Batman, the greatest superhero of all time in my opinion, has been represented many ways by many different actors and many different themes. Today, I rank all the theatrically released movies from worst to first. Where does the new 2022 Batman movie rank? Hear my thoughts!

Follows Catwoman in an attempt to steal a priceless jewel. This puts her squarely in the crosshairs of both a powerful consortium of villains, Interpol and Batwoman. This movie completely fell off my radar. There seems to be little to no promotion for it. I'm a DC fan and this slipped notice. Sigh. Here are my thoughts on the latest DC animation.

Superman is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. He's been represented in multiple movies and played by several different actors. Here is my list of the Superman movies ranked from worst to first in my opinion. Hear my thoughts today!

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) watches over young Luke Skywalker and evades the Empire's elite Jedi hunters during his exile on the desert planet Tatooine. Disney has been putting out a lot of Star Wars content lately. Is it becoming watered down? Maybe. Where does Obi-Wan fall? Hear my thoughts.

A trio of bodybuilders (Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Anthony Mackie) in Florida get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong. This was one of those ridiculous movies that came out 9 years ago that just came across my TV recently. I had to give my thoughts about this one! Check it out today!

A basketball scout (Adam Sadler) discovers a phenomenal street ball player (Juancho Hernangomez) while in Spain and sees the prospect as his opportunity to get back into the NBA. This is being touted as the feel good story of the year, but is it as good as people are saying? Here are my thoughts.

Mahoney, Jones, Hightower, Hooks, Tackleberry.... You know these names, and you love these names! Police Academy is a classic they we all know and love. Does it stand the test of time? You'll be surprised.

We Own This City tells the story of the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department's Gun Trace Task Force and the corruption surrounding it. Some people call it the Wireverse since it's in Baltimore with a lot of the same actors from the iconic Wire series, but is it as good as The Wire? Here are my thoughts.

Two young (Nas and DMX) friends involved in organized crime and drug dealing find that their priorities differ. Did you know there was an actually Belly 2 made? I didn't! This is about the first one. Does it stand the test of time? Hear my thoughts.

A fired cop (John Candy) and useless lawyer (Eugene Levy) sign up as security guards and find they've joined a corrupt union. This screwball buddy cop 80's movie was hilarious back in the day, but does it stand the test of time? Check out my thoughts today!

Tom Cruise is back in what turned out to be his biggest movie opening of all time (which I find strange that he's never had a monster opening like this). If you liked the first Top Gun movie, chances are you went to see this one as well, but is it as good as the original, or does it drop the ball? Here are my thoughts.

The greatest Sci-Fi sage in the WORLD is Star Wars! I'm a fan, you're a fan, we're all a fan. With the new Kenobi series due to come out in May, I figured I might as well rank the theatrical released Star Wars films. What movie holds the top spot? And does any of the movies suck? Listen today to find out!

As students at the United States Navy's elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, one daring young pilot (Tom Cruise) learns a few things from a civilian instructor (Kelly McGillis) that are not taught in the classroom. Trivia moment, did you know that Tom  Cruise is the only actor in this film that has the height and weight requirement to fly in those planes in the movie....

A man recalls his experiences growing up in Montgomery, Alabama during the late 1960s. Spinoff of the 1980s show with the same name, it's a coming of age story trying to grab the same spirit the original did. Were they able to accomplish that goal? Hear what I think.

The professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, one of sports' most revered and dominant dynasties - a team that defined an era, both on and off the court. That's what they say it is, but based on what I've read, that might not be the most accurate description. Hear my thoughts today!
