Have you ever witnessed God do something powerful in your life, only to later doubt God's ability to come through in a similar situation? It is important to remember what God has done in the Bible, Church history, and your own life. For example, financial provision. Throughout God’s Word, He promises to provide for His people. Maybe you had a breakthrough in one season of your life, only to fa...

God's nature and ways are beyond human understanding. At times, God is miraculous. He is often mysterious. To believe is to embrace both the miraculous and mysterious nature of God. Genuine faith trusts despite conflicting circumstances with God's Word and nature (Prov. 3:5-6). For example, the death and resurrection of Jesus are mysterious. To the faithful follower of Christ, His vicariou...

Jesus attends the synagogue in Nazareth on the Sabbath and reads from the scroll of Isaiah 61:1-2. He is proclaiming His Messiahship and that His mission was to liberate humanity from oppression. The phrase “to set at liberty” literally means to be released from bondage. To set at liberty is from the Greek άφεσης (aphesis) and is the process of setting free or liberating.1 It also means to release...

Jesus is in His hometown of Nazareth, attends the synagogue on the Sabbath, and reads from the scroll of Isaiah 61:1-2. He is proclaiming His Messiahship and that His mission was to liberate humanity from oppression. Before coming to Nazareth, the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted and tested for 40 days. Afterward, He returned from the desert in the power of the Spirit. Jesus...

That His purposes on the earth will be accomplished, and His name will be exalted and made great. Gideon was one of those people God elevated for His purposes. That God could deliver the people and show Himself powerfully through an imperfect human vessel. Like Gideon, God sees our lives from the beginning and the end, He is outside of time. He knows our calling and destiny. But for most people, G...

God not only encountered and called Gideon but also instructed him on how to tear down a stronghold that was affecting him and others. God also spoke to Gideon’s true identity to free him, empower him, and prepare him for God’s calling. This message and article are about God’s faithfulness and our cooperation with God’s process. You see, God qualifies the called. None of us are perfect, only Jesus...

Did you know that Jesus has given you His authority to proclaim the good news, heal the sick, deliver the demonized, and be His ambassador? From the earliest pages of the Bible, we see God’s love, salvation, and healing extended to humanity. In Exodus 15:26, God declared to Israel and humanity, “I am the Lord who heals you.” (NKJV) God’s willingness to heal isn’t a maybe toward us; it was the reas...

God communicates to us in many ways. But are we listening? There is the Bible or the written word of God. But God also communicates through the Holy Spirit’s thoughts, impressions, dreams, visions, and encounters. We often wait for a loud, audible voice, but God is most often speaking to our inner person in quiet ways. Plan Your Visit Here! https://tinyurl.com/planavisit Website: https://www.passi...

Pastor Carolyn Sawvelle While the mind speaks through concepts and reason, dreams and visions communicate through pictures and symbols. Dreams and visions may provide God’s communication to us in ways our minds cannot or will not receive. It may be that the mind simply cannot comprehend the things God wants to say to us. This past Sunday, we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. Jesus promised his disciples a “baptism in the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:5, 8), that he would send them a “Helper” who would “teach [them] all things” (John 14:26), and that he would not leave the disciples “as orphans” (John 14:18). The 120 disciples who waited in the upper room became recipients of this baptism. The Church was birthed, and the promise...

Therefore, learning how to discern God’s voice is very important! Jesus stated clearly in John’s gospel: My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27 NKJV If you believe in Jesus, you are a sheep in His flock who hears the voice of His shepherd—period! He wants us to know His voice and follow Him. Have you ever felt out of sorts, as though something in your life was out of sync with God? If we are honest, most of us have at some point. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice (John 10:27). If you know Jesus, communication with Him is the norm. He also said if we love Him, obey My commands. To love Him, fellowship with Him, and walk in rhythm with Him is the goal of true discipleship. To live the...

So, how does one recognize the voice of God and distinguish it from all the other voices that we hear? Is it audible or does God communicate differently? From the time I was a new Christian, I began to ask the questions, “Does God still speak today? If so, how does God speak and provide comfort, inspiration, and guidance?” Forty-four years later, I can tell you without hesitation, “Yes! God still...

Surveys reveal 90% of Christians don’t believe they hear God’s voice. But if you are a born-again believer in Jesus, He is your shepherd and states clearly in His word you are a sheep who hears His voice (John 10:27). He wants us to know His voice and follow Him. Settle this truth in your heart, you hear His voice! Learning how to clearly discern God’s voice evolves from spending time with Him in...

David Milligan 10 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them;...

Many wonder today, “Can I hear God’s voice?” The answer is yes! The Bible and Church history are full of examples and instruction as to how we can safely and confidently hear the voice of God. Jesus told Martha, “One thing is needed, Mary has chosen the better part.” Mary quieted herself and chose to listen to Him. Not just teaching, but relationally connecting with Jesus. The Message Bible transl...

Aren’t you glad we serve a risen savior who has given us new birth, eternal life, and hope? Truly, hope springs eternal in Christ! This week, Pastor Bob finished part two of a short series, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus” from John 12:21.Culture tends to view the Church as narrow, unloving, and unwelcoming. We should endeavor to love people in nonjudgmental ways, welcoming them. This is the heart of J...
