The Government has announced that it would be increasing fines for littering and dog fouling by €100 from €150 to €250. Alongside a €250,000 fund for local authorities to clean up towns and cities. Dublin City Councillor and former Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu has been critical of the plans. Hazel explained why to Anton.

Worries are being raised about the protection of the Irish Language laws within the Gaeltacht region in Kerry. Numbers show that there have been no investigations of breaches to Irish Language law’s requirements by Kerry County councils since it was passed 12 years ago.   Dingle-based Sinn Fein, Councillor Robert Brosnan is calling for the laws to be more heavily enforced by the council.
