He studied education and after a 5-year intermezzo as a teacher he went into radio business in 1987. The music department of east German radio station DT64 was his starting point, where he began to present music shows. After the end of the GDR, he was involved in the development of public broadcasting in the new federal states of Germany at ORB's "Rockradio B".
