Holy Words from Holy Cross

Sometimes the hardest thing of all to do is simply stand firm in the midst of pressure. Why does Jesus call us to do so? How does Jesus empower us to do so?

A lot of controversy has filled the airwaves about people standing or kneeling during the playing of the American National Anthem. What we give our allegiance to is part of what defines us... and how we define ourselves. Our allegiance to Christ, especially in the midst of tribulation, will transform us in ways we cannot imagine.

What do you trust... with all of your heart, mind, and strength? What we trust will be what we use to choose our actions. What we trust will transform us...

In Jesus Christ we are not just saved FROM our sins, but we are saved FOR a different--a better--kind of life for both ourselves and those around us. But what is that transformation meant to look like, and how does God affect it in our lives? In this sermon series, we will explore this together.

We often think of the home as a place of rest, but when you are at a sporting event, it is the place that gives you the home field advantage. In 1 Corinthians 9 and Hebrews 12, the spiritual life is pictured as a sporting event. How does a relationship of faith with Jesus Christ give us the home field advantage?

On the occasion of Pr. Brett Jenkins installation as pastor of Holy Cross, guest preacher Pr. Luke Seamon offers Biblical reflections on the nature of a pastor's calling and the relationship that both the church and the pastor are called to grow into.

How does God work in our lives? Much to our discomfort sometimes, not when we are alone in our room, but in the assembly

If God is all-powerful does he really need people of great ability to accomplish His purposes? What if the chief ability we bring to our relationship with God is availability?

One of the most popular books of recent years is "Jesus Calling." How do we hear Jesus calling? Do we hear Jesus calling? Do YOU hear Jesus calling?

Why was Jesus baptized if He was without sin, as the Bible tells us? It is a question that has puzzled Christians for two millennia. Still, this episode in Jesus' life is one of the most significant for us to understand.

To what are we called in the Gospel? Some people make that out to be a striving after perfection; instead of finding freedom in Christ, the streets are filled with formerly-churched people who have found that to be a crushing burden... sadly church pews are filled with people with that same experience. What can we learn from John the Baptist about the nature of true Christian discipleship?

What does it mean to affirm our faith? Every day, we have choices about what to do with ourselves, our time, and our possessions. What can we learn from our personal computer about discipleship?

Performance anxiety is one of the things that haunts most Americans... and Jesus' words of impending judgment tend to amplify that feeling! How do we "stay awake" in accord with Jesus' words? What should we do to prepare for the coming of the Lord?

How do you follow God? WHY do you follow God? There are lots of motivations in the spiritual life, not all of them helpful. In Jesus, Christians have a King worth trusting and following.

Nothing motivates us like a deadline. How often have we known that we have a job to do, but can't seem to get ourselves moving until the deadline gets near? Jesus has a word for us today...

Christians know they are called to become pure as God is pure, but how does that happen? If salvation is by grace by faith, is purification our work alone? The Scriptural answer is surprising.

The people of God have needed re-forming since they were first called into being. How does God accomplish the necessary work? What will He do with us?

Few concepts are more misunderstood today than the glory of God. Why does the Bible insist that God alone deserves glory? Why do we need--for our own spiritual health--to glorify God? Today's sermon was preached with a lot of visuals, so for the best experience, please check it out on our YouTube channel.

How could eternal life be as simple as believing the right things? Is it that simple? Is it that easy? The Bible's answer will surprise you.

Of all things the Jesus ever said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except by me," is probably the most unpopular in modern America. But what does it actually mean to have salvation through "Christ alone?"

All of us make mistakes; everyone knows it. How are we saved from the natural results of those sins? We are rescued from them by an undeserved gift of God... by His grace.
