Hello, Hillside! We’re so excited for church this Sunday and can’t wait for you to join us. Don’t forget to bring your lunch for Sack Lunch Sunday—how fitting is that? Here at Hillside, we’re in a series called “The School of Faith”, so of course we need a lunch break together. It’s going to be a rich and meaningful time of connecting with one another. Our passage is full of hope, comfort, and enc...

Hello Hillside Family! Here are seven things to do to ready yourself for tomorrow’s worship service at 10:00 AM on the hill: (1) Pray now that God’s Spirit would move powerfully in our singing, connecting as friends, and listening to his Word; (2) Read tomorrow’s passage, Genesis 18:1-16, in your “work Bible” and underline or star any word, phrase or passage that rings a bell in your mind; (3) Put...

Hello My Fellow Hillsiders! Sunday’s rolling around again and the whole staff invites you to join your church family for the 10:00 AM worship service. We are pressing on in our “School of Faith” series on the life of Abraham with an episode in that faith champion’s life that I (Dan) particularly like. Here’s a thought. If you have a “work Bible” that you mark up and annotate in your daily devotion...

Come find confident rest in God and his goodness as we gather. Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Wayne Phillips teaches from Genesis 15-17. This week’s sermon notes are avai...

Hello Hillside Family! Have you ever had an experience of the imagination in which you felt pulled out of one realm and pulled into another? I (Dan) have, and I’m talking about it this Sunday morning in my Week 4 message on Genesis 13-14 from our "School of Faith: The “Tests” and Triumphs of Abraham fall series. I’m sure Pastor Wayne will similarly have strange stories of the past to share as...

Hello Hillside! Welcome to church and welcome back to The School of Faith. This Sunday we will continue our study of Abraham’s life, learning lessons that deepen our own walk of faith today. The curriculum is set, the lessons are relatable, and yes, there will be a test. But do not worry, we are in this together: worshipping, studying, and being refreshed to step out in faith and follow God’s guid...

Hello Hillside Family! I (Dan) am expecting this Sunday morning’s worship gathering to be one of more than normal spiritual electricity and I invite you to be there. Consider these “ingredients”: (1) Our whole church family will be together–just one 10:00 AM service on the hill this Sunday; (2) Vacation season is complete so many world travelers will be back; (3) Josh Lund will be on stage with gu...

In Matthew 9:9–13, Jesus calls Matthew, a tax collector nobody wanted, and gives him a new identity as a disciple who helps change the world. In Matthew’s story, we see how Jesus calls each of us: first to Himself, into a real relationship with God. Then into groups where we grow alongside other disciples. And into teams where we join God’s world-changing mission. No matter your past or how disqua...

Hello Hillside! You are warmly invited to church this Sunday morning to praise God, re-bond with your fellow disciples, and hear some “mission thoughts as we move ahead,” which is precisely the focus of the messages we are excited to share with you. I (Dan) remind you that church will be happening in two places: our main campus at 2060 Magnolia Way, and Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. So, pic...

Hello Hillside! We’re wrapping up our Grace 180 series, Paul’s 1 Thessalonians pep talk to the church. We’ll be diving into the rich theology packed into his personal and intentional sign-off to this wonderful church, a sign-off that still speaks to us today.  It will be a joy to unpack one of the Bible’s big words together: sanctification. Get ready to worship, learn, and greet each other with so...

Hello Hillside! I (Dan) invite you to church this Sunday morning at 10:00. Please remember that church will be happening in two places: our park-like Hilltop campus at 2060 Magnolia Way, and the green and glorious Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. The passage we’ll be covering as we begin the “descent” of our Grace 180 message series from I Thessalonians is unlike any passage that has come befo...
