Grace & Peace Presbyterian

Last week we started a new sermon series called "The Gospel According to Isaiah." During this series, we are going to examine the gospel through the words of the Old Testament Prophet Isaiah. He offers a sweeping and penetrating view of the gospel that promises to bring greater glory to God through the redemption and renewal of his people, and the restoration of creation.

Worship Info for September 21, 2025 Text: Hebrews 10:19-25 Title: How then do we live? Authentic Worship Text: Hebrews 10:19-25

There are few words that we use more often in the church than the word "gospel." Unfortunately, when we use a word with such frequency its precise meaning can become obscured. If you were asked, "What is the gospel?" how would you respond? At Grace & Peace, one of our core values is to be a gospel-centered ministry. This Sunday, we will explore what the gospel is and what it means to be centered o...

This week we are going to start a three-part sermon series called "How should we then live?" The title comes from Frances Schaeffer's book and video series. He highlights the importance of understanding biblical truth and living consistently with that truth. During this series, we will study Hebrews 10:19-25, focusing on the core values of Grace & Peace, and how we live in light of those values in...

What is your purpose? This is a question we all ask at some point in our lives and—whether we know it or not—each day we live according to our answer. Our purpose defines the course of our lives, informs our major decisions, and provides the framework for our sense of fulfillment. The problem is that the answer to the question of our purpose is more elusive now than ever. Why do we struggle to fin...

As our summer comes to a close, so does our study of the book of Acts. In this week's passage, we will read a travel narrative that describes Paul's travels from Ephesus to Jerusalem, concluding his third missionary journey. This short section is packed with intriguing, and somewhat confusing questions about the Holy Spirit, prophecy, and the providence of God. But in the end, you will see a very...

As we continue our series in the book of Acts this week, we will witness an incredible sequence of events involving both tragedy and God's miraculous power, followed by Paul's farewell address to the Ephesian elders. Our passage opens with a memorable scene: Paul preaching until midnight, and a young man falling asleep and tumbling three stories to his death. Yet even this tragedy becomes a testam...

This Sunday, Shane will be preaching to us from Acts 19 about Paul's time in Ephesus. Join us for worship on Sunday morning, and for a worship night in the main building in the evening!

In many ways, life is like a riddle. We are born into a world that leaves us searching for answers about meaning, purpose, and happiness. We all have experiences and intuitions that tell us we were made for something more, but we often feel like we're wandering in the dark. How do we find answers to the ultimate questions of life? Acts 17 takes us on a journey into the heart of life's deepest ques...

This week, we'll explore key stories of individuals who have shaped the Church—both in history and still today. We begin with Paul's second missionary journey in Acts, where people encounter God in unexpected ways. We see the fulfillment of promises made long ago, the fruition of Jesus' words reaching the ends of the earth, and the unstoppable ways in which God accomplishes His purposes. Through G...

How do you feel when you hear the words "conflict," "disagreement," and "debate"? Probably not too excited! The Acts of the Apostles, however, shows us how conflict and debate are signs of health in the church when we engage in them in the way Christ intended. Acts displays conflict in a new light and points a way forward for healthy and productive debate in the church. In Acts 15, we see the chur...

Have you ever faced or witnessed opposition to the Gospel? As we continue in our study of the Book of Acts, we will read about Paul and Barnabas' first missionary journey, and see that they experienced a fury of opposition and persecution for sharing the Good News of Christ. We will also see that the Spirit enabled them to be bold and resilient, because when the world is against you, it often mean...

Pop quiz: Who's the main character in Acts - Peter, Paul, or the Church? Answer: None of them. It's the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit so dominates the book that some theologians have suggested that we call it Acts of the Holy Spirit, not Acts of the Apostles. It is the Holy Spirit who works in and through the Church to take the gospel to the ends of the Earth; the same Holy Spirit who is STILL at w...

Last week we started a new sermon series called To the Ends of the Earth. It's a study of Acts 9-28. There Luke records the apostles bearing witness to the words and deeds of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit to the ends of the Earth. God began this work two thousand years ago, and he is continuing this work today! We live in the next chapter of this story, Acts 29 if you will! As we stud...

What is your purpose? What is my purpose? How do I find my purpose? What is the purpose of the Church, including Grace & Peace? These are common questions we all ask, because we were created to live for a purpose. Without purpose, we lose meaning, direction, and hope. Thankfully, the Bible gives us many powerful answers to these important questions! One of the best places to find answers to those...

Have you ever been asked to pay for something that you already owned? I think we can agree that this would feel pretty backwards. In our passage this week from Matthew 17:24-27, we encounter Jesus being asked to pay a tax for the very Temple that belonged to Him. The religious leaders wanted Jesus to pay the Temple tax like everyone else, but Jesus knew something that they didn't: sons of the King...

Or listened to an incredible song before the album was live? In each of these moments, you are getting a glimpse of something wonderful that will soon be revealed to the world. The transfiguration of Jesus Christ is the ultimate glimpse-behind-the-curtain mo...
