Geek Mentality

Happy Saturday everybody! This weekend is super Christmasy for my wife and I. Last night we went to a drive-thru Christmas light celebration and today we’re going to see “A Charlie Brown Christmas” live on stage. Because of all this excitement, I wanted to make sure to watch and talk about today’s Sitcom All Ye Faithful show early. Parks and Recreation is (out of all the shows I say this about) TH...

Well we’re moving on up…..to day 15! Welcome back everybody and happy Friday. After today, I only have one more week of work before vacation. This week flew by because I was in jury duty every day – but it all ended yesterday and I am a free man again. Well, free to go back to work – but I do that at home so I can at least wear pajama pants. To celebrate Sitcom All Ye Faithful today I go back to 1...

Two week! I’ve been at it for 2 weeks and we just (well, yesterday) passed the MIDDLE of our 25 day adventure. See, I seamlessly worked in today’s show into the post! I’ve loved this show for years – the show for me that put Bryan Cranston on the map. He then tore that map a new one with that other show of his… And guess what – MORE JURY DUTY TOMORROW! But Sitcom All Ye Faithful stops for nothing...

It’s Day Lucky 13! First I find out that I Dream of Jeannie – a character I mentioned in the theme song this year – doesn’t really have a Christmas episode. The one I thought WAS an episode around Christmas really had NOTHING to do with it. So I moved on to a show I loved as a kid – but finding that took a while. Then finding the logo was harder than I thought it would be. Oh and I am BACK IN JURY...

Tuesdays Rock! Tuesdays Rock! Tuesdays Rock! Tuesdays Rock! I hope to hell you sang that the correct melody! Welcome back Holiday Heroes! On today’s episode I go back to the 90s to talk about a Drew Carey episode that has some real 70s sitcom vibes – but how could it not with the some of the people starring in this one! So as I go back today for ANOTHER day of jury duty, you get to sit back, know...

Happy Monday sitcom addicts! Today I have jury duty so I wanted to get this episode out as early as possible. I wonder if anyone listening is also heading to jury duty and will be sitting feet from me without realizing they’re in the same room as their favorite person in the world. If you see a guy reading a Kindle and eating a granola bar – that’s me! Oh and today I am talking about 30 Rock – a s...

Ain’t we lucky it’s day ten…Good Tiiiiimes! I told you! I told you for nine straight days that this year will definitely feature that says Dy-No-Mite and today I delivered on that promise. Today’s episode, while taking place during Christmas, almost felt like an after school special. But as long as I got James Evans to give JJ that look of death I was a happy man. Good Times is avaible on Peacock,...

Attention Cloud 9 shoppers – Mike is back for day NINE. Get it!? Cloud NINE! Day NINE! It’s as if I planned, which I certainly did not because I am only now realizing the coincidence as I am typing this. Admitting that also proves that I really don’t have much of a plan as to what I am going to write here. That being said – Superstore is an incredibly underrated show that I binged up until caught...

Come and knock on our door….If you're here to hear about more Christmas sitcom magic! Welcome back friends – it's day 8 and today I'm talking about the classic show, Three's Company. When talking about today's show, I hope that I'll be able to fit it in – there's only one way to find out. Okay now – someone who doesn't know I'm talking about a podcast (preferabl...

Math, science, history, unraveling the mystery – that all started with the big bang…BANG! Welcome back to all of my friends – and even a few of my deepest, deepest enemies. It’s day seven and I thought it would be fun to revisit what is probably the most successful sitcom of the 21st century, The Big Bang Theory. While many people loved this show and thought it was hilarious, I always thought it w...

It’s day six fellow nerds! Welcome back! Today I thought I’d go back many (many many) years. Sixty-one years to be exact to watch a show that while iconic, I can’t say I remember ever watching a full episode all the way through. A show that I know a lot about – but couldn’t tell you one episode premise. That changes today. You can stream this episode for free on Pluto , and the entire series is av...

Welcome back Christmas Sitcom fans (and only Christmas Sitcom fans! Everyone else, scram! Wait no – I take it back. All are welcome! It’s day 5 of our 25 day romp and today I am heading back to 1995 to the exact same night as the Frasier episode from a few days ago. I remember loving NewsRadio when it was, and looking back at it for the first time in a while I feel like it still holds up. You can...

Happy Sunday, sitcom fans! It's day 3 of our holiday celebration and today I decided to revisit a character who we last talked about back in 2021 . A character that left one legendary show behind to create a completely new legacy for himself (and recently to try doing it again!) So skip football today and gather the family around the bluetooth speaker to enjoy day three of of Sitcom All Ye Fai...

Howdy, sitcom fans - and welcome back to Day four of Sitcom All Ye Faithful! Today I go back to 1986. Back to when 10 year old Mikey would watch TV with his parents on what he thought of as an amazing Saturday Night. Because it was. Mama's Family wasn't the best show on TV. It's not a classic 80's Sitcom. But there's just something about it that makes me think of being that ext...

Baby, if you ever wondered – wondered whatever became of me? I’m doing a Christmas daily podcast. Christmas Podcast at Geek Mentality….I’m on Sitcom All Ye Faithful at Geek Mentality….Dammit, why didn’t I think to sing that DURING the episode!? Well, anyway - welcome back to Day 2 and to another play on the classic Christmas Carol storyline. What makes this one different? Weed brownies, I guess. T...

Welcome back sitcom fans!!! Year three of “Sitcom All Ye Faithful” – Geek Mentality’s official Christmas Podcast Christmas Podcast special – is officially here! . Every day in December through Christmas Day I’ll be bringing you a new podcast covering Christmas/Holiday episode from some of television’s greatest sitcoms…And some sitcoms that, well, I want to talk about anyway . First up up this year...

Hey, mon! Welcome to the fourth and final entry in the saga that since 2020 I've dubbed JAWGUST . And boy oh boy did I save the worst for last. Thankfully I decided long ago that the subsequent years of JAWGUST would be one day and one day only. None of these movies deserve the love the original film has justifiably earned over the decades - ESPECIALLY Jaws: The Revenge , the only JAWS movie I...

Day 30. Movie 30. Movie 300. Yes!!! For the 10th year in a row I made it all 30 days without missing a day - without missing a movie. For the 300th June day in a row totaling to 60 blog posts and 240 podcast episodes. BUT, for only the 2nd time in Movie Month history, I ended the year by seeing a movie in the theater - and this one was a doozie. For the first time in 15 years, Indiana Jones is bac...

When a movie is described as an epic and then what you end up seeing is actually EPIC - it's a wonderful thing. This movie was an incredible roller coaster filled with emotion, drama, silliness (in a good way), fun, and friendship. Just a visual/musical treat. Epic, indeed.

Rian Johnson really knows how to put together a great mystery. Twists and Twits. This movie has them both and I can't say enough how much I enjoyed it - but I try to anyway. Go listen now and then tell your favorite cousin about it. I said now!

Back in 2015, the 2nd year of Movie Month, I decided to start watching the Fast & Furious movies. It was the single greatest decision I've made in my entire life. Okay may that's not true - but these movies are amazing. Okay, maybe that's not true - but they are entertaining as they are silly as they are eye rolling. I will continue to watch them as long as they make them. Which mi...

And the 2023 "Chris Pick" goes to....Prisoners! For those of you who don't know, my long time friend and fellow podcaster always sends me movie suggestions and every year I find it in my king, enlarged heart to at the very least watch on of them...This is that one movie. And he picked a good one. Not a "fun" movie by any stretch of the imagination - but some some wonderful acti...

Although I've never played Dungeons & Dragons before, I do have a connection to this world going back decades - and as much as that helped me enjoy this movie I'm not sure NOT having that connection could take away how much I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Wanna play? Well, I guess it's time that get back into the "killer doll" world that I have embraced here on Movie Month over the years. Whether it's sequels to a classic, a bad remake of a classic, a doll that never actually does anything but look creepy, or a technological marvel that is too smart for the humans around it, it turns out I enjoy these types of movies. The difference...

This movie was everything I expected it to be. Basic story with amazing special effects. There were some things that made me say, "huh?" and some things that made my eyes roll. There were also some things that made me pump my fist. James Cameron succeeded in what I think he set out to do - he made me enjoy myself.
