Where to Start 10.04.2023

Sixty-six books, where do I even start? Ever opened you Bible to Ezekiel or Revelation without any context and felt totally lost? Some parts of the Bible are more challenging to tackle than others. Sean helps us pick a good place to start as a new believer or to recommend to those curious about Scripture. 

What is the Church? 07.04.2023

What should we do about it? For the believer, we show up to a place with a bunch of other people (most of which we don't know) every week, sing songs, and listen to teaching from Scripture. But, what really is THE church? Sean shows us that what we think about the church changes how we participate in Christ's living body on earth.

Jamie shares how Philippians encourages us to rejoice in brothers and sisters in Christ. Should you prayer the Lord's Prayer? Sometimes we have a hard time with pre-written prayers. We want to be genuine with the Lord, we want to feel the words we're saying. However, Jerell points out the biblical value of engaging in prayers that Jesus prayed and instructed His disciples to pray.

Are you loving? It can be easy to love in a way that looks like the world, or to slowly slip into a critical mindset. However, Lew shares with us the framework of 1 John for what fuels our love and how we are to love others.

What do people really need? The care for the hurting can bring a lot of feelings into our mind. Sometimes we want to help, sometimes we want to avoid looking at it head on, but there is something we can relate to. Those who are hurting in different ways than us all need connection. Jane shares how local missions outreach is changing the lives of people through a universal language.

How do our own biases affect how we view others? We all want to reflect Christ in our love for others, but even our best efforts can sometimes be misguided. Jane shares on her most recent trip to visit our overseas missionaries and how that challenged some of our common perspectives.

How do we read the Bible? The Bible is a big book, well books actually. It can be intimidating to approach or easy to skim. However, Jamie shares some insight into the thought processes around interacting with God's Word and its efficacy.
