Hi there and thanks for tuning in to this newly rebranded podcast, Death by Multimedia, a title I borrowed from the first ever podcast I did with my eldest daughter Jessica. Seeing as though I have split this podcast into three sections over the years – TV and movies, sports and music, and created two other podcasts to handle the weight of the sports and music side of things, I have decided to give this podcast a bit of a spit and polish and rebrand and republish. So, I hope you’ll stick with me as we explore movies, TV shows, streaming platforms, documentaries and even the odd introspective.

Life of Brian - A Fanatics Audio Commentary 07.04.2023

Most poeple with any sort of taste in comedy and movies have seen the classic Monty Python film, Life of Brian. Now well over 40 years old, it is still one of the best and most cutting and humorous films ever made, with scenes and lines that are still quoted today. At some stage in the last 25 years, it became a tradition in my household to rewatch it every Easter, while others instead go to churc...

Finally you get my awesome tips for next weekend, which...

Episode 219: What’s on the Box? - Oscar Nominated Films and Missing Planes 22.03.2023

On today's episode of 'What's on the Box?', we have look at some films that were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture at the recent awards night. And no, there is little chance of me watching "Top Gun: Maverick" or "Avatar: The Way of Water" any time soon, so you can forget all about them. But I have managed to have seen three of those eight movies nominated. The eventual winner...

Episode 218: In League with the NRL 2023 - Round 3 21.03.2023

Welcome back to this week’s uninformed wrap of Week 3 of the NRL. Then we discuss the ludicrously thought out decision of Mitchell Moses and his management trying to up his asking pri...

Episode 215: Can Australia Beat India at Their Own Game 08.02.2023

The Border-Gavaskar Test series is about to begin in India, and the mind games have already begun. Whispers of doctored pitches have already started, which conveniently leave out how some of Australia's wickets have played in recent years. With the series on our doorstep, I discuss the recent history of the series, and whether or not Australia has the ability and desire to block out the outside no...

Episode 214: Why Do We Support the Sports Teams We Do? 24.01.2023

Most of us have spent our lives supporting certain sports teams, for better or for worse. Some have supported the same teams all of their lives, others have chopped and changed to suit their own purposes. But one of the more interesting questions to ask about this phenomenon is this - just how did you come about to choosing to support that team or teams? And, if you have changed your allegiance ov...

Episode 210: The Casual Mankadder: Umpires, Laws and the Scourge of Technology 08.01.2023

On today's edition of The Casual Mankadder, the past week has had its fair share of controversial incidents on the cricket field in the many varied varieties of the game. And while they have all been spoken about at length during the week, when it comes to adding my own opinion to the mix, I like to do it in this forum. Whether it be Adam Zampa and his abortive attempt at the mankad, and whether o...

Episode 212: What Can Be Done to Fix the DC Universe 06.01.2023

Recent times - well, really forever - has seen turmoil within the DC Extended Universe, with storylines of movies varying wildly from character to character, and no real thread that can link them all in a cohesive and believable way. All that looks to be up for a big change with the announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran are taking on the role of creating a uniform outline of characters and...

On today's thrilling episode, we move into the realm of the 'limited series' stories that are proliferating the streaming services of the world. Episode 203: "The Wacky Race goes on and on... each driver determined to win! 25.11.2022

When it comes to the greatest cartoons of all time, one that surely has to be in the mix is the “Wacky Races”, which ran for an amazingly short time in the late 1960’s. Inspired by one of the great comedy films of the 1960’s, it also spawned two spin-off series that had their own success, being “Stop the Pigeon!” and “The Perils of Penelope Pitstop”. On today’s podcast episode, we’ll take a look b...

Episode 202: Why the ICC and CA need to be smarter about ODI's 24.11.2022

The fact that there was almost no interest in a series of cricket matches between Australia and England played over the past week is not necessarily a reason to go into all out panic mode, but it has to be a wake up call to everyone involved, most especially the International Cricket Council in regards to the scheduling of international cricket in an already overpacked market place, and Cricket Au...

Win the toss and bowl. Predictable bowlers. Average fielding. Power batting line up stacked to ensure at least two come off so they can win any game shown up when none of them come off. And a New Zealand team that was well prepared and wanted to win. Australia's hope of defending their title on home turf is almost over at the first hurdle after an abysmal outing at the Sydney Cricket Ground last n...
